R : -2.3

suspension : MOTON 3way coilover(with both F & R helper springs)

have to bend it here by a hammer. It is easy work, and no harm to chassis.

Nice setup. What is the front spring configuration? 5" main springs + helpers?

Would love to see pictures of the car with the wheels installed.

I think we'd rather see some pictures vs the thread being deleted

Yea, definitely want to see photos as I'm thinking about running this setup for GTA in June if they don't corona cancel it. More details on what you hammered would be nice too. I can't tell what is going on in the photo.

Can you show us what exactly need to be modified? I think the tyres grinding at the chassis is quite common. I had it with my BBS E88 and 265/30 front setup which is why I sold the rims.

It looks to me like that spot where the tire normally clearances the fender liner on some bigger setups and tends to also rub the metal there. Always wondered if it was a super critical point in the chassis, but looks like he was able to get it bent down a bit here with no ill effects.

Once you take the fender liner off you'll see it. It's just a small lip.

In case anyone comes upon this thread. 18x10.5J +20 offset wheels with specifically 295/30/18 A052 tires will clear without spacers _if you don't go too low

I read this thread awhile ago thinking I'll be good but upon installing my Nitrons (I Know OP has Motons) the tire touches the helper springs at the height I'm trying to achieve. Either removing the helper spring or a 5mm spacer is required (I am still figuring out which route to go).

What main and helper spring ID does the Nitron damper use - 60 mm ID? I would’ve guessed the Moton damper also would use 60 mm ID springs, not 2.25” ID springs. The main spring OD varies and is defined by the spring rate.

Have you checked to see if a 3 mm thick spacer is enough? I’ve learned after 39 years of going to the track, 3 mm is sufficient to eliminate contact between a tire and strut/spring.

FWIW with a 18x10.5 et22 Apex wheel and 295/30/18 PS4S, I needed a 5mm spacer. Granted I was making contact with tire to adjustment ring, not a spring. 3mm would have worked just fine if it was just the spring.

I was able to install a 5mm spacer and lower the car to the height I want. The 295/30 a052 on a 10.5J +20 clears the Nitrons with ~1/2" of gap to fender.

I am yet to drive the car so unsure what else will contact but I have very stiff spring rates (140 n/mm).

Does Nitron use 2.25” ID springs?

140 N/mm (800 lbf/in) is the typical without-aero MCS front track spring rate (paired with a 700 lbf/in coilover rate which is equivalent to 957 lbf/in divorced spring rate). 900-1100 lbf/in are typical with-aero MCS front track spring rates.
