Dinan says the engine tune is 0.5 hours labor. Even if you are flashing the trans as well as the engine ecu, $240 seems like a ripoff to me. Is there an independent shop in your area that is a Dinan dealer?

Just for reference an Indy shop for tune and 0.5hr labor is $360.10 out the door.

That is crazy lol
it takes about 1 hour or so to set up the car and program both ECU's

And 1 hour labor is about $150 - $175 at the dealership.

Yea there is a indy shop that is a Dinan dealer about 25 miles from where I live. I'm going to give them a call tomorrow. For the software, do I have to buy it online for the 50% off or will a Dinan Dealer charge me the discounted rate?

That is understood. Here in cali its close to $200 as well.
It is still crazy for $250 for labor.
This is where an independent Dinan shop comes into favor.

Picked up and drove it a couple local miles (at a department store now). ECU tune wise, can't feel anything (yet). However, the DCT smoothness improvement is very noticeable. The most telling improvement is the disappearance of the occasional lurching / engine braking.

Anyway, nothing new from other reviews, and I've no other tunes to contrast against, but I would definitely recommend.

Please update after you drive it the recommended 100 miles! I never intended on tuning this car, but for 50% off a Dinan tune I am leaning towards it.

I noticed when I got the dinan DCT tune, there was almost a recalibrating phase it went through. Engine breaking was almost nonexistant on downshifts during the first few days.

It returned (its not a bad thing, I was worried it wouldn't) but the transmission is overall much smoother, and WAY better on coming to a stop in any drive mode. Starting and stopping is way better in stop and go traffic as well.

Steve Dinan talking about the efficacy, or lack of, just a software tune alone on NA motors. For NA, hardware upgrades should accompany the software/tuning. Just putting this out there in case anyone hasn't seen it. Watch from 6:30 for that part of the discussion.

Well, I got the software installed today. Paid $455 tax and all. I put about 60 miles on since the install. The slight difference I feel I'm thinking is due the the placebo effect.

Dinan springs go on next, hopefully later this week.

Dinan doesn't list cold start or redline alterations on the website. I am not sure those are included.

I have had the ESS DCT software and switched to Dinan and I like the Dinan version better. I have friends that are both ESS and Active supercharged and ran all 3 DCT tunes to see whos ran different.
I know I'm not answering your specific question but from my understanding the performance DCT files are based off the BMW euro software
