asma123 wroteFYI, I just bought this whole set via FCPEUro and it came out to be ~$550. Maybe the Black Friday pricing is helping?Getting ready for the job. Going to order parts soon. Mine are leaking but not super terribly. Also I’m wondering if it’s ok to go for the cheaper victor reinz gasket along with the Elrin timing cover gasket just to save a few bucks

Vedubin01 wroteReally good stuff and thanks for posting this. Not sure if you're around on the forums. Was wondering if you also replaced the cam shaft sensors on each side.I thought I would attempt to do a simple DIY on replacement of valve covers using a used set or your own if you are attempting this on your own. I have seen some information that is incorrect in regards to the installation and figured I would help those trying or attempting this yourself.

So after getting your gasket installed into your cover go ahead and press the new Spark Plug Tubes into the cover. Nothing special just push. Now go ahead and fit the cover back over the head and start adding the new bolts with the grommets. This is where I have seen some wrong numbers. TQ numbers for these bolts are 6NM not 10NM as I have seen in many threads. You do not want to over torque these at all. Also start from the middle and work your way to the ends when torqueing the bolts. This way you don't run the risk of an improperly seated cover and would expose you to possible leaks down the line.

Once secure this is s a good time to replace your spark plugs. This also has a Torque figure of 23 inch lbs.

Then you would repeat this same process on the other side. The only difficult thing was working with the coolant reservoir as it seemed it was always in the way.
The total job took about 4 hours and was pretty straight forward. Looks a 1000x better and will be much more durable than the stock finish and will last years to come.

I checked realoem and it should be:
x12 11417526315 torx screws (4 for each oil separator = total of 8, 1 for each camshaft position sensor = total of 4)
And only x2 instead of x4 for the bigger oil separator seal 11157838369

The price has gone up a LOT at FCP. It's $665 with 12 Torx screws BMW-11417526315
as recommended above.
If it's ok to re-use the screws, I'd just reuse my old ones. Are they really one and done? We're not talking rod bearings here.

BMW-11417526315 is the cam sensor bolt. You only need 4, not 12.
Not recommended to re-use the valve cover bolts. They have a rubber grommet that hardens with age and can leak oil.
