M Button Toggle between D and Manual Gears

Hey all,

Still becoming familiar with the M Button and it came with all the settings on the most aggressive. I noticed when I am in 'D' and I hit the button, it will switch into manual gears with all the settings activated. Many times, if I hit the button again it will revert to D with the prior settings. However, there are times when I am driving very aggressively in M Mode and when I hit the button, it stays in the manual gears. Is this something malfunctioning? Any explanation would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I'm not sure I understand. Are you saying that when you push the M button to switch that mode off, it sometimes does not return DriveLogic to D?

It's my understanding that when you push the M button and switch it off, it resumes the last mode -- meaning that if you were already in manual mode, it will stay in manual mode.

Yea, if I am in 'D' on the freeway, hit 'M' start driving very aggressively at about 80mph, and hit 'M' again it doesn't toggle back to 'D'

If I go and drive right now in 'D' and hit 'M' it will switch to manual gears. If i hit 'M' again it goes back to 'D'. Sometimes on the freeway it does not do this when I drive aggressively. So wondering if this is normal or not.

I think when i get this right, D mode is set in your ///M settings !
So when you hit the M button or the MDM button on your steering wheel it sets in D mode.
Think you need to check what set is selected in your ///M setting menu...D or S ?
It is just next to the shift speed selector ...speed 1-5 and just next on the right you can select D or S !

Thanks. I will take a look and see what it is, still learning these settings.

If you press M and then change any settings directly while in M mode, the settings you manually altered will be retained when you turn M mode back off. That goes for shift mode, Power, EDC, and I think DSC if you turn it all the way off or on.

If you press M and then don't change anything directly, when you press M again to exit M Mode, everything will return to your pre-M settings.

So it sounds like your non-M shift mode is D and your M button is set for a manual shift mode, but the times your car stayed in manual after exiting M mode were because you played with the shift settings while M mode was on.

But yes OP, read your manual and the M Supplement. You'll learn about all kinds of cool stuff you'd be hugely unlikely to discover on your own.

Thank you!!! Just wanted to make sure my M Mode isn't malfunctioning. When you hit the 'M Mode' and start getting up to 8k rpms, it's hard to even think clearly. All you hear is that beautiful V8 singing.

Totally hear you. Just stay safe out there, when that V8 is screaming at 8k RPM is when you need to be thinking clearly more than ever!

Okay played with the settings in the car. I understand what everyone was saying, if you mess with the setting it will stay that way. Is there a way to change the default settings when you power on the car? Have 'Power' 'EDC' all disengaged?

Yes, M Key settings. Go to the MDrive menu and click twice to the right. You'll have the option there to change power, edc, and shift light defaults on power up.

Again, read that manual and Supplement OP....

(FYI I have Power disabled in M mode but not in regular mode because a more linear throttle is better when you're driving harder and a twitcher throttle is fine when driving casually.)
