Launch Control
Why doesn\'t the e9x have two modes of launch control like the e46 did? In the e46, you could either rip the tires by slamming the gas while in LC mode, or you could launch the car like a bat out of hell if you slowly press the gas all the way down and then release the shift lever. But on the e9x, all I can do in LC is rip the tires. And I know I can lower the launch rpm\'s but not enough to not rip the tires. I have to say it, the 6mt has the advantage here! They can control their launch where we can\'t.

I've only used LC once, but I didn't have so much as a chirp out of my tires. Granted, I made sure they were fully warmed up prior to trying out LC and I was on a quality road.

You can rip the tires in S6 with traction control off... Just gas to the floor it revs to 3,500 rpms and dumps the clutch... Same deal as the E46..if you use the full launch control sequence no tire spin

Maybe it's just me, but aren't you missing the point of launch control? You don't want to "rip the tires". You want to launch properly with a small amount of slip and then go. If you want to do a "tight burnout", just slam the gas.

That's the point! I don't want to rip the tires. But it seems that the launch control for the e9x is set up just for that unless I put slicks on, which is a lot of stress on parts. The e46 had the option of a clean launch w the launch control. Why doesn't my e92 have it? Or am I missing something?

Yes. Correct. But when it launched on the no spin option of launch control, it launched awesome. This car doesn't have that option. It always rips the tires. The e46 had two options where the e9x has one. And the option the e9x has is just ripping the tires. I want a good launch on street tires.

I agree, I've tried the launch control a few times and it never launches the car, it always just makes the tires spin while the car stays in place. The launch control on my old e46 worked, it actually launched the car, on my e92, it's worthless.

you can adjust your rpm launch with the cruise control launch if you're getting too much spin

You sure you're actually using lc in ur e9x? U shouldn't be losing too much traction. Either you're not using it correctly or it's really cold out, ur tires are cold, you're really low on treads or you're in a puddle

Never had a problem. I get a little slip, but nothing excessive or outside what I'd expect from throwing it in gear at such a high rpm.
Or I just throw on MDM and mash the gas. Similar result at a slightly lower rpm engagement. You don't even need to use LC. You can get varying set off results just from how you hit the gas.

maybe your tires are TOO new. Bald tires actually will launch better, just like slicks in the dry so if you have just slapped brand new ones on that is not helping that is forsure
