2011.75 MW/FR E92 M3 Euro Delivery Journal (29.03.2011)

First of all let me apologize for not getting this journal posted sooner. It had been a busy 2 months a lot of work in the office and work relocated me (PCS’ed) to San Antonio, TX from Dayton, OH.

Without further adieu here is my journal from my 7 day Euro Delivery Trip to pick up my 2011.75 Mineral White on Fox Red (non-ext) E92 M3 with ZP2, ZCP, ZCV, DCT, 6NR and Heated Seats. WARNING: For those only interested in the car skip to Day 3 since I didn’t take delivery until then.

Day 1: Wien (27.03.11)

As soon as we stepped off the plane in Munich it was off to catch the next train that would take us to Vienna, Austria. It was about a 4 hour train ride and we arrived in Vienna that evening just in time to check in at the Hilton Plaza (complimentary of HHonors points) and grab dinner at Restaurant Leupold.

Dinner was fantastic or maybe we were just famished.

Then it was just some light sightseeing.

Burg Theater

Hofburg

Day 2: Wien – Munchen (28.03.11)

Day 2: Wien – Munchen (28.03.11)

This day started out with breakfast at Weltcafe, which was just down the street from the Freud Museum/Apartment. We were pretty excited to see this place on Amazing Race a little while later.

Freud walked up these steps

Delicious pastries

Then it was back to the Hofburg for the Crown Jewel Tour but we stopped by Vienna University first…which was also on Amazing Race in fact we probably took the same route they did.

Some crown jewels

Relics

After the Hofburg we headed to St. Stephen’s Cathedral and whilst on my way I encountered this fabulous Ketchup Advertisement.

That evening we hopped back on the train and went back to Munich to pick up my car the next day. We stayed at the Hotel Laimer Hof just outside the Nymphenburg Schloss and went to Hirschegarten for Bier and Dinner.

Day 3: Delivery Day! – Neuschwanstein – Schwarzwald (29.03.11)

Day 3: Delivery Day! – Neuschwanstein – Schwarzwald (29.03.11)

And now the most important day…delivery day!

Picked up my car at 0930 got there at 0845 with some time to enjoy the lounge and a good morning bier.

Could that be it? It is!

Some shots of inside the Welt and the awesome robotic drones.

Museum

We were then off on the road to Neuschwanstein Schloss

That evening we headed to Schwarzwald but by then it was already dark so no photos until tomorrow. Haus Erika, the bed in breakfast we stayed at was spectacular and I would highly recommend anyone who ventures that way on their ED to stay there. My car was certainly the talk of the town.

Day 4: Wieden – Bad Krozigen – Staufen (30.03.11)

Car in front of Haus Erika in the morning

We spent the late morning/early afternoon hanging out at the Mineral Baths in Bad Krozigen.

The evening was spent in the medieval town of Staufen.

Day 5: Koln – Nurburgring – Munchen (31.03.11)

Day 5: Koln – Nurburgring – Munchen (31.03.11)

This day started out with a high-speed trek up to see the Koln Cathedral which took about 7 hours or so of driving but it was worth it.

About one hour South of the Cathedral is the Nurburgring…yes it was time to take the M3 home to where countless hours were spent testing to make it the magnificent machine it is today...and yes I had to wear the t-shirt...it was most appropriate.

Porsches are king here

It was a blast to drive! Yes I did drive it on the Green Hell on a wet track

That evening was a second high speed trek all the way back to Munich where I tucked my car in for the evening at the GHotel.

This day started with the Munich Plant Tour in the morning and Dachau and the Hofbrauhaus for the evening.

On the way back to town I stumbled upon this fabulous place

Hofbrauhaus Munchen trumps Vegas, Newport and Panama City having been to all three of those prior of course.

Some camo BMW hatch that I saw driving

Yea I talked to the owner of this car...he's actually an Idaho Firefighter, who imported a car to Germany where it is garaged with his brother in-law for the sole purpose of driving it on the ring when he gets a break from firefighting.

Apparently firefighter pay is good because he's planning on selling the 996 and importing a 997 gt3.
