Popped My Cherry... (Ticket)

Ok I was being dumb completely forgot its the end of the month anyway I was kind of just doing a short pull on this long street that is a 50mph zone. Well you guys know how fast it gets up there when you go for it even for a couple seconds... anyway I'm confused the cop said he got me going 96 but said he was going to put down 65 and on the ticket it says Speed Aprox : 96 P.F/Max Speed : 65. So what I want to know is if he fucked me or did I actually get the 65 with 15 over in a 50... Because I think now that I looked at it I got fucked... Also if I do get the 96mph... how much do you guys think it's going to be (California).

I know this isn't that type of forum but I'm sure some of you have had this irritable experience. BTW this road I was on is always empty and its pretty long so I wasn't endangering anyone by driving the way I was.

Looks like the cop got you for 96 in a 65 zone, instead of 65 in a 50 zone. So, yeah, that's going to be pretty expensive. A good lawyer though could probably get you off on a technicality if indeed you were in a 50 zone since it's an error on the citation.

Maybe you did 96 in the 50 and he bumped it up to 65. So in that case he helped you a bit.
Anyways, I got a 92 in a 65 and it was $550.

How do you guys deal with the tickets do you just pay them most of the time or do you do that whole thing where a lawyer shows up for you and just extends the trial until the cop doesnt show or what? Also do you get the points on your license or do you clean it up with the traffic school BS...

Always video tape every interaction with the police. If he told you one thing and wrote a completely different thing on the citation that ticket is BS.

Sounds easy bro. Did a similar one tap pull a couple of years ago (to blow the water off after a quick clean lol!). The $400 ticket was fine. 4 month withpit a license was worse...

why?...... Is your time and energy devoted to lawyering up worth less than $400?

only people who lawyer up are the ones facing jail time, suspended license or impounding of cars...

dude, you got off easy, and he cut you a break, bumped your ticket down to 65 in a 50...lesson learned. Don't drive like an idiot.

No he kept it at 96 bumped the 50 up to a 65 and said that's going to be a point on my license. Also the thing about laywering up is cheaper (250$) and it prevents all the points I've dealt with it before. Either way I'll probably end up paying the fine but if I can't do traffic school to get rid of the point on my license I might do the lawyer thing again. Also to explain what I mean with the lawyer thing I don't step a day into court I pay a firm 250$ that deals with this stuff and just postpones until the cop doesn't show up and then the charge is droped. I've dealt with that before it just might take a while to clean up.

Every State is different I imagine. In Florida you are a tard if you pay your ticket. ALWAYS take it to a lawyer. We have traffic lawyers all over like cockroaches. It's big business. You give them the number on the citation and a credit card, they charge you $59 and a month or two later you get a notice of court costs, if any. No points or anything.

Our court system is setup for it. They even do a bogus "pre-trial" court date. You show up, the pre-trial judge deals with it real quick, and you go on your way (either you or lawyer show up).

I imagine California has traffic lawyers too. It may work the same or similar.
