As far as only on investment point of view, what do you think it's a better decision?

Nismo GT-R or GT4?

Price is about the same.

They're probably both poor investments unless maybe you're in it for the multi-decade haul, and even then probably not. But by then you'd have incurred costs to keep it pristine all that time, so even IF it has appreciated, you'd almost certainly have done better investing that money in index funds. But what do I know? I don't have a crystal ball and I think buying cars that are great to drive for the purpose of not driving them is stupid.

Please don't get me wrong. I won't be keeping them in a garage with a car cover on.
Perhaps I wasn't quite clear enough when I posted the question.

All of GT4 for sale(used) I looked at are more than MSRP same to GTR Nismo.
I don't expect the price to go over $1m. What I don't want is loosing value over time like modern 911s or standard GTRs.

I am in a quite shock that some people buy these limited run cars new then drive for a year then sell it for at least even money or more.
Definitely different cars than what I have experienced with.

Same thing happening with 991 GT3's -- not nearly as limited run, but they're (frustratingly) stable near/at/above MSRP even with some mileage.

Porsche world is different.

Unless Porsche does this sub-GT3 manual "R" model as speculated -- and perhaps even if they do -- I'd suggest that the GT4 is nearly depreciation proof.

Mid-engined, manual, naturally aspirated, w/ Porsche GT components. We might never see again. Look at what's happened to the 997 GT3's.

Don't think we'll see a GT4 for <MSRP unless somebody puts on some serious mileage.

I shoulda... congrats to ///M Ryder and anyone else who had the foresight to act.

I use some of my disposable income on hookers, but you don't hear me defending my use of my money.

Anyways, this GT4, I would do anything for one. ANYTHING!

GT4. I sold mine and made money.
I have also owned three GTRs. They hold up OK but you're definitely going to lose money.
Off topic. My new toy arrived(though I won't pick it up for a couple of months). And I think it'll hold value.

Congrats on the GT3! Same color as my GT4!

Pretty standard , no buckets. I didn't really get to configure it. I had to take the one of the 6 builds Porsche had available.

You're gonna love it. I'm about as hard core, militant, a three pedal manual guy as they come but the PDK-S in the GT3 is insane. The drivetrain in that car is really something else.

Many happy, safe miles.

beautiful car. I'm disappointed to hear the GT4 are going at a premium. I was hoping to pick one up off the MSRP price.

I hope Porsche release more special edition GTS/GT4s etc. I need a bit of price break even on used Porsches.

At this point, I'm thinking hard about a 997 GTS or if possible, just maybe a 997 4.0. but years and years down the line, I just need a price break.

Btw, am I stupid for considering trading my M3 in for a CLK63 Black?

You're not stupid but in this unbiased enthusiasts opinion, you're talking apples and oranges.

The CLK63 Black is a whole different league when it comes to engine performance. I wouldn't personally buy one based on the lack of a proper, three pedal manual, but by all accounts, it's an absolute monster. Perhaps the sledgehammer to the M3's scalpel.

You gotta do the work and have some patience. They're out there at MSRP...you just need to contact some dealers and be ready to go when you get the call.........Phil

Depending on what they're going for. I owned one and it was nice but transmission was lame, there is no backseat and its out of warranty.

The last M3 I had was an E46. So the Mercedes blew it out of the water. If I owned a more recent M3 it would be a closer contest.
