Unpopular Opinions Thread (Moderator: No Politics)

So for a long time I've thought about posting this thread just for fun so please let's keep it light and have fun with it.

Is there anything that seems to be widely accepted as "cool" or everyone thinks looks good, but you just hate? Post it!

I'll start us off at the risk of getting flamed lol

I don't think BBS E88's look good on our cars, the large lip just makes the face look too small for the wheel arches. Try as I may, I just can't get into it.

Who's got another one?

I'm going to be that guy:

I don't agree with people who feel the DCT is better suited to the engine in our cars. Particularly when they give the reason that the DCT keeps the car in the torque band between gears and the manual doesn't. The reality is that our cars are making close to peak torque starting at 3500 rpms. Unless you are shifting at 4k rpms or you shift VERY slowly, there's now way you're actually out of the meat of the torque curve if you reach for the next gear (in the manual) at say 5500 rpms or higher.

To be clear, I'm not saying that the DCT is poorly matched to the car or even a bad choice for those who prefer it, but I am saying that because of the broad torque range of the S65, both transmissions work good with the car. Clearly the DCT is the option you want if you want the absolute quickest form of the car because of the gear change speed--no argument there. And I will say that I'm jealous of the additional gear in the DCT. I would love if the manual had a 7th gear for overdrive/highway cruising/mileage purposes.

OEM Exhaust "Mod"

It's a fancy term for having your local muffler shop mickey mouse your stock exhaust to make it louder.
I know the E9x "mod" is a bit more intricate than just a simple cut & weld, but in principle, this is really no different than a resonator delete or muffler delete.

I get it, not everyone wants to spend thousands on just an exhaust, and I respect that choice.
But don't make it sound like it's something more than that.
If I could have a penny for every time a noob asks "what's the best exhaust" and the reply is "OEM Exhaust Mod!"

No flame suit needed. Unpopular Opinions Thread means thread is not a safe space.

Agree, the sixth spoke kills the look for me. There is a very similar five spoke version (not volks and can't remember who makes them) which looks really good imo though.

The E88 looks awful to me as well.
