BTW, with the 2011 MY production run beginning early this year, is there any word on its length (12 months?) or is it also going to be truncated so as to allow the 2012 MY to commence before a full year has elapsed? FWIW, I'm seriously considering waiting to purchase a last MY for long term ownership. It won't bother me that it may be as long as two years before a newer M3 arrives on the scene and a turbo at that. |

I still don't get this ZCP.
So the idea is to make this car more sporty and 'trackable'. Afterall, the word 'competition' is part of what makes this package appealing. Then where are the track bits? I can let go of having physical dipstick jimmy. Taking that rather pointless sport steering wheel with flashing leds and digits out of picture, at the very least install a numerated water temp gauge in the cluster. What about an onboard race timer? Even C63 has one. And upgraded big brakes, remapped ECU, CF parts? Do we really need 19" wheels and a 10mm-lowered ride? C'mon BMW. Seriously.

ZCP with just the following for 4-5k extra is NOT WORTH it:
- Exclusive wheels: 19" - Style 359M - Y-Spoke - Lower suspension (-10mm) - New SPORT mode for EDC - alcantara interior tidbits M division, pls add: - exhaust upgrade - beefier front brakes then it'll be worth it!! BUT YES LETS WAIT FOR MORE INFO

IF this Ends up being true, and a ZCP package is available, then I'm for sure gonna stick it out another 6-8 months and wait for that. I'm re-modeling my condo now and was gonna pull the trigger on the M after it is done next month, And funds start to accumulate again, but looks like I'll have to take a rain-check on that. I'm curious to see what BMW releases on this.

Can this package be installed on an existing car
Hi, i have a 3 month old 2010 e92 M3. I am wondering if there are performance upgrade thru ECU or changing few minor parts on the vehicle, will this option be available as an add on. C63 has a sports package in which a "revised" ECU provides 30 more hp. I could definately use an additional 30hp and 50nm torque, or a second quicker 0-120 mph acceleration.

The Competition Package will receive an engine upgrade boosting to 450 HP, interior modification will include Ricarro style seats and removal of the backseat. So far all indications are that this is a European only option and will not be shipped to the US

That would mean they had to get that engine Federalized again.
How come Porsche can do it for a niche vehicle like the Boxster Speedster and BMW can't do it for the M3 GTS?
