The "rediscovery" of Tourings in the North American market is epic news if true!

I wouldn’t be surprised if the G88 M3 Touring ironically only exists because of the US since otherwise ICE M3 Touring volumes may have been too low to make the business case solely within the rapidly electrifying EU and China.

How ironic that would be given the Touring was deemed such a failure in the US that we specifically only missed the 3er Touring that got an M3 variant.

From a Brand/Marketing perspective while the touring has a small niche of actual buyers (relative to the sedan) it follows BMW overall and especially Ms big push into personalization/individuality. as an observer we can see BMW is realizing a ton of value there like the huge effort into promoting and actively encouraging individual colors, having 8 interior options, different brake colors

The need for touring existence (and in the us) probably came alongside the same realization that they needed an ICE M3. Even if it didn’t leak until it recently crossed whatever gate internally makes things visible to insider. I imagine the next up to cross this gate will be whatever the decision about the coupe version was made but bmw has a bit more breathing room with both the g82 and g87 in prod through 2029.

ynguldyn Is it fair to assume no ZA1 for the US at this point?

Got it, thanks. I was hoping maybe there was a chance we’d get the ZA1 but not NA1 like the current M5.

ynguldyn Will a manual transmission be on offer for G84 + S58? Or is it only going to be mild hybrid? (Therefore MT would not even be possible)

Since there are now first spy shots of the NA2/NA3, is there anything known about an ZA2/ZA3?

Wonder this myself. But I guess we have to wait a bit longer for news about those. I wouldn't be surprised, if BMW decides to launch only one ZAx model for the time being to determine how the market reacts.

Some more info on the unique aspects of Alpina models:
Paints: As of now, four main colors, white, black, brown, and green
Kinda wild that Alpina Blue wouldn't be a standard color...

Pretty sure the only thing the 8 Series is getting is a gold watch and a party.

is there anything know already regarding NA0/NA1 and model lineup besides the 50x? Will there be only the 30 and 40x and if so, will they both have the ca. 84kWh battery?
It just confuses me a bit, since the NA5 has the 50x, soon 40x and 40.
NA5 50x has the same setup as NA0 50x, if NA5 40x and NA0 40x match, what will be the difference between NA5 40 and NA0 30. Just the drivetrain or also the battery?

thanks!!

there will be two motors offered: one for 20 models (currently this is NA0 only), the other for 40 models.[/BACKGROUND]

NA0 and NA1 will use the same batteries for the same models, with the exception of 20 and 40 RWD that will have their own batteries, possibly with different chemistry
I guess the i3 20 was renamed to 30 sometime along the way.

Hi, I’m new here, I was looking through the OP and noticed that cooled front seats on the i3 and iX3 won’t become available until November 2027. Is that right, because that’s a big wait for that. Any chance of that being moved up?
