I sure hope so. I can only see 6 shells total in the pic, but hopefully there are actually two rows of 8.

You can sleep better now. . PS: I'm interested to know what brands of bearings and bolts you chose to replace the OEM ones with?

I just finished fitting Mahle bearings with oe bolts myself. Now I need to go put the rest of the car back together.

Number 4 was the worst.
#4 could be a leaking fuel injector: fuel washing out the oil on the bearing causing some foaming-type of wear. I'd look into checking out your injectors if I were you.

I had similar on one of my bearings and it was where I had a bad injector.

Replaced with MRF extra clearance bearings at 66k miles 2008 E90 M3.

Previous owner said he always warmed up the car before hitting higher RPMS. This was a weekend car for him so I assume there were a lot of short trips. Oil was changed every 5k miles with LM 10w60. I've now switched to Motul 8100 10w60. Previous owner did a blackstone at about 60k miles and there was no indication that there was elevated lead or copper

Given the weird condition of the stock RB, I believe it was the right time for this job.
hi Dento, are you still use 0w40 oil? Is any problem? l want use redline 0w40 XD

Little delayed but got these done back in September and wanted to add another reference point. 2011 E90 M3 with ~124k miles. On the original RBs. I bought the car at this mileage so unsure of prior treatment but had dealer oil service records every ~10k miles (longer OCI than I'd like but at least I know they got done). Shop didn't keep the shells in order, but did say these looked decent for the mileage.

Shout out to Performance Eurowerks in Chicago. Squeezed me in immediately after I bought the car and drove it back home to FL with zero issues afterwards. Replaced with BE bearings and BE ARP bolts.

Great place. I used them for RB service in 2023. They'll be installing my Ohlins R/T in April.

Agreed, I wish I was local to them. I like DIY'ing most things but always good to have a solid local place for more complex things (like RBs).

Is that 42,000 since last bearing change or total miles in the car since new?

Total miles on the vehicle. I bought it used last year and was told car had not had RBs replaced.

Damn that’s pretty worn down fur that low miles. Mine is an 08 and made it to 100K. I’ve been told that the later model bearing by a shop I had mine done in LA, that later models actually have a higher fail rate than the copper bearings. Not sure if that is fact but the shop definitely knows what they are doing all these years so I find that alarming. Glad you got them done man.
