My track guys, I have a question!

I was shopping for a new LSD as my OE Visklok is worn when compared to a friend's low mileage M3. I've always been researching 3.45 & 3.62 FDs for the DCT to complete my transmission upgrade plans with the lightweight flywheel, carbon driveshaft and a new rear (bushings, LSD, FD).

Sourcing BMW Motorsport's final drive gear sets has been quite difficult in the last few years, Dinan discontinued their offering with the 3.45. The available 3.45 ring & pinions on the US market are used and range from 1,000 to 1,500$ USD.

I have been in talks with European LSD builders with close connections to the BMW motorsport eco-system in Germany.

They hold inventory and can source final drive gear sets for us, offer factory direct Drexler LSDs along with it, and offer a full building service as well if you are in Europe (shipping would probably be too high for a full case).

I'd like to validate (or invalidate) the group's interest in securing a GB for this.

Preliminary Pricing Discussions

• Used gear sets: 500 euros + shipping
3.45 / 3.62 / 3.85 (+150 euros)

• BMW Motorsport new gear sets: 1,000 euros + shipping
3.62 / 3.85 / 4.10 / 4.44

This is conservative pricing, hence the feeler.

Would this be of interest to you?

Most have a month lead time as inventory is always limited. I bought this one. Plan to install soon.

I don't think so, there seemed to be sufficient space and I didn't really see any evidence of it rubbing
I assume you were running a spacer up front? If so what size? I'm running a similar setup with MCS 4-ways and a 6 inch spring up front with no helper. Just trying to figure out what assortment of spacers I will need up front.... I am thinking of 5mm and 10mm? This is with a 18x10.5 et22 wheel. Looking at both 275/35/18s up front and 295/30/18s.
I actually wasn't running a spacer with the apexs. I'm thinking of changing the order to et22 instead of 25, but either way I feel like somewhere between 5 and 10 will be needed. I used to run a 12mm spacer with the apexs before I swapped out the springs, so I know there's enough space outward without worrying about rubbing

Edit: changed to +20
You may need to pull the rear fenders with et20 (if you haven't already)

I just put on 275/35/18 Falken rt660s with et22 wheels and it looks very tight in the front and rear.

275 will work no problem.

The 295 and 305 tires he typically runs will be an issue in rear

I just test drove this setup with the following-

18x10.5 et22 with Falken rt660s in 275/35/18 square. ~ -3 degrees camber up front and ~ 2.3 out back.

I have MCS 4ways with a 6 inch 2.25 spring up front with no helper. It’s rubbing the front fender liner when I turn left. No spacer right now... not sure if I have enough clearance to the shock accounting for tire deflection. Maybe a 3 or 5mm spacer is worth it? The rt660 runs a little wide, it’s about 1/3 and inch wider than the nitto nt01 in the same size.

Lots of clearance, you have around 3x the clearance I have when I run 295's up front. No issues with rub on the shock. e36clubracer

Unfortunately if that's with no spacer, you have no way to bring it in closer to help the fender liner rubbing.. More negative camber might help. Depends where on the liner it's rubbing.

Shock body clearance looks good. That photo is with the car in the air so it's unloaded.

I'm worried about the spring perch.

Ah ok. On my car I have 3mm clearance between the tire and the spring perch - and that's what I was referring to when I said no rub issues. Hard to tell what you have in this picture since it's unloaded, but I still think you'd have more than sufficient clearance. Again, I think a problem is you actually not being able to bring it in closer, due to your wheel offset.

Loaded versus unloaded doesn't change clearance to the perch and spring. That dimension is fixed.
