I don't have the photo ~100+k km, but I have 50k. So the next photo by my friend. It is BE Bearing, ARP Bolts and Mobil 1 0w-40 all 50k km miliage. Installed back and for now summary already 80k km.

I'm assuming from the photo above that 0w-40 works? Can you show me the photo of the Mobil 1 oil you use? I'd like to try myself.

yeah, that picture above is my BE/ARP combi with M1 FS 0W-40, was shot in July 2018.

1,5 years passed and plus 30k km on the clock (195k total). everything is fine. mains still from factory.

I had my S65 seized on 50k km because of main bearings, running on Red Line 10w60 from factory. You can find my old topic with photos here:

So after engine rebuild (new engine block, pistons, BE bearings, ARP bolts) I'm running Mobil 1 0w40 to keep my main bearings safe, just like my friends (RomanK and toolshed) above with no issues for about another 50k km.

Here is my last oil analysis. This sample had ~6 months and 7,200KM hard KM on it. Most of the driving was city or spirited back road rips.

The Red Line 5w50 sheared down to 17.07. Previous use of Red Line 10w60 sheared down to 17.98 over a similar interval.

All in all, I am happy to have BE bearings in my S65.

The 40C cSt would've been handy to see for that 5w/50 too.

I'm trying to remember what cSt 10w/60 Castrol starts at & typically shears down to?......

I dissasembled my engine. This is my BE Bearings + ARP Bolts after the approx 70k km on Mobil 1 0W-40. City and track use.

Can somebody comment it?

Looks like there was a bit of swarf that got through the filter based on the long scratches. Also looks like the friction reducing coating has worn a little bit but the Babbitt looks undamaged.

How many track miles on the car? What prompted you to take the engine apart?

I don't know exactly how many track miles. 8-10 track days per season I guess.
I damaged my car, so my engine will be installed to 1M.

Sorry to hear about the damage. A 1M with the S65 should be a real beast.

I am surprised by the lack of comments regarding your BE shells. The wear pattern typically seen with OEM bearings posted on this site seems to be present, albeit quite subtle. The coloration also seems inconsistent from shell to shell and at least one appears to be missing a chunk.

Thanks mate, very interesting. To use a very common note on this board; they look like shiite. Agree there must have been loads of shit in the oil, scratches all over. Hard to tell about actuall wear, would be really interesting if you could post some close up pictures for the experts to get a feel for possible metal to metal contact.

Looks bad. 70k km = 50k miles, it isn't that much. What prompted you to use 0W40 vs 10W60 as recommended with these bearings?

The scratches look like some debris made it through the filter. As far as "looking bad," I would disagree with that statement. And they certainly do not look like shite (well, debris shite yes, wear shite no).

The very thin TriArmor coating is not worn in any drastic manner. The babbitt layer is not damaged in any way (apart from the debris damage).

This post has 50,000 mile bearings that "look like shite."

Something scattered some debris between 50tKM and 70tKM based on the earlier photos shown from the same engine.

Debri definitely made it past the filter. My BEs at 30k miles looked much better and it's a dedicated track car

The filter is often bypassed during a cold cold start. If there is too much pressure building up trying to get thick cold oil through the pleated paper filter, the oil bypasses then filter. Of course there should be no debris in the oil to start with after the last shut down but there could be some in the pan that makes it past the pickup screen.
