Just go back to the post and hit edit and attach them. Sometimes it times 2 or 3 tries for some reason, especially if you are using the app.

Oil consumption prior to motul was about 800-1000ml every 7-8k miles ... essentially I used up the 1 liter bottle between oil changes ... will see what happens with motul ....

Still after all the shells coming out I still haven't understood if the LCI actually hold up better due to the harder surface (- and if that is an issue for the crank at all), or due to the slightly more clearance. What's your opinion on this mate?

2010 E92 M3 DCT, 24,400 miles. I'm the 3rd owner. First 16,000 miles 10W-60. Last 8,000 miles Amsoil 5W-50 (by me). California car that I believe has been babied all its life.

Top shells 5,6 & 7 show the most wear.

For a car with 24k "babied" miles? Those shells are fuuuuukd.

Attached are 25k mile bearings from SYT_Shadow blown engine. They had 120 track days on them. Other than #1 being screwed due to the main bearing issues, that is what bearings should look like.

I agree. I would have thought they would be in better shape with only 24,000 miles. If top shells 5,6 & 7 looked like the rest of them, then I would say they were okay. But that was not the case.

Don't get upset bro.. I didn't mean really good like untouched, but still really good compared to basically every 088/089 shell I've seen photos of on the board.
Fokked is clearly a strong word though, most have come out in much worse shape, after much higher mileage, still holding up to that point.

Yeah, worn engine shells (even being The Grand S65B40!) seems like a walk in the park vs the rest of our current challenges...

I wouldn't say they fare any better. Their harder material feathers better in the wear locations compared to the softer lead bearings which flake and crumble apart at wear's edge (which is more visually disconcerting). Dimensionally, they tend to wear just the same amount.

Thanks. They don't SEEM to wear off actual material the same way the 088/089 clearly does when going through layers, mine certainly didn't although changing in colour. But you obviously seen plenty and know for sure. Appreciate the feedback.

As in you've measured them, & they end about the same dimensions?
(Btw, I don't know if you watch the 'blown engine registry' thread, but I got a question there for you about your parts car ).
