Great, you've got suspension covered then.

The PS4S will be great if you are a novice, but if you plan to track more than a couple of times a year I would strongly suggest moving to a true extreme summer tire like a Hankook RS-4.

Agreed. Ideal front camber setting from a wear and performance perspective would definitely be over -3 degrees for a track car.

I did not expect the car to be built to where it is, otherwise, I probably would've gone with RS4. Unfortunately, tirerack just told me 275/35/18 is now discontinued from Hankook. I wonder why..

Yea, I'll have to find a magical compromise between street and track. I'll ened up probably with something in that range though.

There isn't a magical compromise really... I tried for a while with PSS. Gave up and did the wheel swap lyfe

The great news is that tires are consumables. As soon as you burn up those PS4S, you can make the switch to something a bit more track friendly.

If only we had something as awesome 5 years ago as the PS4S.... even good (enough) on the track. Substantially better than the PSS and the Pzero.

If there's a chance of rain I leave the PS4S on. Otherwise, swapping tires is the norm (in my case to Nitto NT01Rs, which are really good for a track-day tire, but terrible on the street).

Four tires/wheels, a jack, a long 1/2" ratchet, and a cordless drill with a 1/2" socket attachment all fit in an E90.

18x10.5" ET20-22 is a great wheel for track enthusiasts running wider than avg. 275/35-18 compounds like NT01, RE-71R, Hoosier, etc., as the 10.5" wheel will provide superior sidewall support over the commonly used 10" wheels. Since this is a track setup, you should have negative camber dialed in regardless of how aggressive the wheel and tire specs are.

In the rear, the ET20 offset is somewhat aggressive - perfect for 275/35-18, but should you decide to go with 295/30-18 square it would require negative camber and light fender rolling to prevent rubbing.

For my jrz I'll need to move to a 5" spring to run wider tires. I went with 6 thinking 5" is too short but I may have to just buy 5s now.

I have the macht schnell quad resonated xpipe and with the oem mufflers to me it sounds pretty quiet already. Not sure if I should roll the dice and for sure I'm not taking no extra xpipe with me.

I have stock everything except OEM exhaust mod and it passed.

Those are quick tires. Faster than NT01's. Easy to overdrive and chew up quickly. They are either 60 or 80 tw so more on par with trofeos.

How do the Toyo RR compare to those TD or NT01 on our cars? My friend in an ND Miata really like Toyo RR, had good things to say vs. NT01.

Currently running the RRs (2 weekends worth of tracking) however no experience with NT01 or TDs. What I do like and appreciate about the RRs (at least so far) is that they are pretty talkative for being a "slick"

I'm running RRs..a little more grip than the NT01s, you loose the coo'ing sounds, and they have zero squeal so it's silent and then a painful howling when you're over 90 degrees.

Can't comment on lifespan yet. Still getting to know my old new car. I've heard that the RRs can heat cycle out unlike the NT01s.

For anyone in the LA area that is interested in trying out TDs, I have 2 sets sitting in the garage that I'll let go for cheap. One set has only 3 15 minute sessions. The second set had 4 sessions and then I flipped them and ran one more. So, there are at least another 4 sessions left on that set. All 4 tires are 295/30/18 (medium compound).

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the new Dunlop ZIII. They have a 275/35/18 and performance is probably pretty close to the RS3.

The Audi R8 LMS cars use wood (I think balsa) in the front splitter. They said it's because the wood is strong and light, and it keeps replacement costs low for the teams since those splitters are typically destroyed by the end of each race.

ZIII isn't really new. It's a toned-down Star Spec, IIRC. Been out for a few years.

It's an Audi, it's made out of non-conductive materials to minimize electrical problems.
