I've seen his videos, very informative. Interesting to read the article and then Kyle explains that the strakes on the diffuser manage tire squirt. Funny you mentioned kyle.engineers because I've been using his videos to help design my custom diffuser on my e46.

Willow Springs - Streets of Willow Springs Speed Ventures May 11, 2019 excited and nervous especially since it's been almost 2 years since i've done a track day i'm a newbie previously i've done 2 days at Autoclub Speedway and 2 days at Buttonwillow in my F30 328i anything I should be aware of at Streets of Willow? I watched one video so far the track edges don't have much markings or those striped concrete areas

I've been throttling this turbo stang around Maui for the past week. It sucks. Got some off-roading in though.

BMW club that runs events at COTA has a nice event. I instructed there in 2016 with them and it appeared to be very well run and there were lots and lots of non-BMWs there so don't worry about that. Back to racing with NASA during the Permian era. They had a class called American Iron -- older 5.0 liter Mustangs, Cameros, etc. completely stripped down and fast. BMW Club had small fields at some races and they'd toss us in with those guys in a split start. I distinctly remember being in my 1987 325iS in stock form getting passed by two of those cars in the esses at Buttonwillow. How'd they pass in the esses? Easy, they just went onto the dirt and kept their foot down. Scary/funny as hell.

Certain times of the year, laguna seca has a orange/yellow striped meatball flag that means there are geese on the track. On of those big boys could end your day. Lol

Ordered some Motul brake juice so I unpacked the Motive bleeder I ordered last year. Starting with the dry pressure test, it lost 3 PSI per minute starting at 15 PSI. According to FCP Euro, they had a manufacturing defect last year so I'm getting a replacement.
Check yours if you ordered one last year. |

I watched the VinWiki video, then read the comments, then the AER response. After watching the last part of the 50 minute video, my conclusion is that "everyone sucks here."
From http://americanenduranceracing.com/d...t-repsonse.pdf - "And most notably is at time index 50:20, where the subject car and driver initiate a pass under FCY, passing emergency vehicles at over 99 mph." Everyone else was doing at least 80 MPH when they passed the recovery vehicles. No idea what was going through his head passing anyone under a yellow, but I don't see his pass at that time being considerably worse than what everyone else was doing. Section3.9.1,“When an incident occurs on track which requires the use of a flagger to display a standing yellow flag, cars shall reduce speed." To what speed? 100 MPH to 95 MPH? "Should a waving yellow flag be displayed, cars shall significantly reduce speed." Again, to what speed? 100 MPH to 80 MPH? I would say 60% of the blame is down to the race organizers for creating ambiguity in the rule and for not getting in contact with the team in a timely manner to inform them of the situation. If the officials could have talked to the team, who would then would talk to the driver, further unsafe maneuvers could have been prevented. Everyone sucks here. |

Assemble it, tighten all of the connections, then hook it up to the brake fluid reservoir. Pump it up to 15 PSI and let it sit for a few minutes. The pressure shouldn't change for at least the time it would take you to do one corner but probably much longer.
I'm interested in only the time to complete one corner as I'm planning on doing dry bleeds. I don't want to deal with cleaning the inside of the pressure bleeder, the tubes, and create more waste from the whole process. I did the dry test on my wife's car but I should test it on mine just to confirm it's the bleeder and not something wrong with her car. |
