changed my oil to the Shell T6, ran it for about 6k miles and my levels are better. Love this oil

Pay for TAN next time in addition to TBN. I bet you could go further assuming the viscosity doesn't drop too much more.

I had one done by Horizon, after seeing your postings I am feeling my numbers are ok. Not sure why I am being warned though. Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated
It is stored during the winter, with a few cold starts throughout the winter. The oil was changed after driving for 1/2hr on the first drive of this season.

The red for viscosity is confusing, as a 10w60 is going to thin out to about that level over the course of a typical change interval. I went and looked at a few of my old reports on both TWS and TwinPower 10w60, and they all had viscosity ~16.4-17.5 after 7,500 miles (including track use which punishes the oil). Did you not tell them which exact oil was in there, how long it was in, etc.? Maybe you should give them a call and ask them to clarify this.

I'm not sure what you mean by "a few cold starts throughout the winter", but unless you brought the oil up to temperature completely, and drove for a while to burn off the moisture and fuel, you may have actually made things worse by just dumping fuel into the oil. Cars run rich when they're cold, so a few cold starts in the winter just to drive it around the block or whatever is not a great idea, as you're seeing in the data.

The high fuel content is a bad thing, just to be clear. 2.4% is huge. I would keep an eye on that as it could be a sign of a leaky injector or something like that.

Nothing special, just posting my latest oil report to add to the data pool for high mileage engines.

Still on original rod bearings
BMW twin power turbo 10w60
12 track days
DD, 30k miles/yr, mostly highway miles
Southeast USA climate

Considering getting the bearings replaced after I reach 150k miles, just because I'm starting to get nervous despite the oil reports. Especially with the track days.

Wear metals look fairly stable over time. Impressive! This is textbook example of why you get UOAs to establish trends.

Consider paying for TBN & TAN next time. Blackstone might even be able to run those for the latest sample you sent in -- call them up.

Hello everyone, I have been reading a bit all the thread and I find it very interesting.

Soon I have to change the oil and I was thinking about the Valvoline VR1 10w60 or the Motul 8100 X-Power 10w60. Does anyone have experience about them or have they tried them ??

we have all these great results in the reports but one day the engine would still spun a bearing as we have seen with few members in here. I wouldn't trust these reports at all!

Agree. These report shouldn't be trusted 100% by itself. I installed oil pressure and coolant temp gauge at around 60k miles. I started noticing a very noticeable drop of oil pressure and rise of coolant temp starting around 70k and progressively get worse. Which prompted me to do my rod bearings in my garage around 86k. Which cured both the oil pressure and coolant temp problems. I am happy to report that 64k miles later, my oil pressure has not drop at all, nor my coolant temp rise to where it was before I changed my rod bearing. So I think my bearings are still running pretty good at this point. If any of the other symptoms return, I will redo the bearings. I still like to keep an on going record of my oil changes though in case something else pops up.

Changing rod bearings helped in getting oil pressure back to normal and oil temperature? how is that related?

I am no engineer but my best guess is it was due to the gap between the journal and the bearing changing as the bearing wear? I believe there were other users on here that reported engine temp running cooler after bearing change also. I am just reporting my observation.

First blackstone. 4k on the oil, 79k miles... So even though rod bearings don't show up on any service report, I'm looking for opinions. Did I win BMW lottery, or have the bearings been replaced with non lead/copper?

Picture is hard to see.. copper is 2ppm, lead is 0ppm, and aluminum is 5ppm..

As others have pointed out in various RB threads, unfortunately clean Blackstone reports don't necessarily guarantee anything and aren't even necessarily great predictors. I've seen posts where some had clean BS reports and suffered RB failure not long after. Only one way to know for sure...

Bingo.

The point of UOA is to establish a baseline and then look at deviations and trends. One report in isolation tells us very little unless something is already seriously wrong.

Yes. for ants.. My phone compresses it to upload... not sure how to fix it. Also, I will be doing the bearings regardless. That's not what I'm asking. I'm still just curious about the zero lead at 79k miles.

4K is a low interval on the oil but as others have said...even seeing low numbers on a Blackstone report doesn't necessarily mean anything. If your RB's already have excessive wear it's possible that the debris is now minimal since new tolerances have been created by wear (probably much earlier in the engines life). The only way to know for sure is to find out who the PO was and ask him. Maybe you did win the lottery :-)...but maybe not.
