M3 GT4 Mirror's
So I was viewing some images of the GT4 and noticed that the mirrors are very similar if not exact copies of the e36 mirrors. I know that some of our friends on the other side of the pond (lukester for example) run e36 mirrors due to the consumable cost of replacing e9X mirrors when they get damaged during racing conditions at The Ring. I like the slender look they give off and unfortunately I need to replace one of my mirrors so this may be a good option.
Used E36 mirrors would be cheap, or these from Turner: http://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-16...-3-series.aspx

Are these using more sophisticated optics to ensure you don't have ridiculous blindspots? Obviously the use case for street driving versus the track is quite different.

Bumping this thread, as I need to purchase new mirrors Has anyone successfully installed E36 OEM / Replica mirrors onto our E9X M3? The GT4 mirrors / Motorsport24 mirrors are stupid expensive for a non-functional piece, so it's not a viable solution.
I am about to just take the plunge and see how I can make it work, the replica mirrors are pretty cheap. Devotec, TomElektro and Lukester all run E36 replica mirrors, but all three have installed them on carbon door replacements, so their mounting points are flexible whereas I am still working with the standard doors.

It's been a couple years, and I bought another E92 track car. Bumping this thread to see if there is anymore information out there.
I do not even see the mirrors pictured above on Motorsport24's website anymore.

I combed through the price list, and the supporting photo's below it. I see two mirrors listed, and neither are the authentic GT4 mirrors or the CF GT4 style mirrors pictures in this thread (which are the one's I would like). I do love the GT2 mirrors, but they are crazy expensive for a non-functional part. I am going to email Motorsport24 and see if they still make the CF's pieces pictured above. "Mirror GT2" "Mirror M3 GTR" No images shown "E92 Racing Mirror" (Not included in the price list, nor am I really a fan. Similar to E46 M3 mirrors) Quote:
I'm also a bit OCD, and obsess over details. In some ways it helps set my car apart from others, and on the other hand it drives me crazy. No doubt they are all "an unreasonable purchase" at Motorsport24 prices

Can't you just order them from BMW? They used to publish the motorsport part catalog. I'd also try IND.

This is correct.
Interestingly, in the M3 GT4 catalog, they are noted as "Ext. Mirror...M3 E36" with the following part numbers: 51162253827 (LH) 51162253828 (RH) Plugging them into Real OEM shows that they are indeed the same part # as the E36 M3 mirrors. There is another set of exterior mirrors noted as "carbon" with the following part numbers: 51162483063 (LH) 51162483064 (RH) These don't show up on RealOEM. My educated guess is that they are the same mirrors but made of carbon fiber.

^ Great information, thank you for sharing. I knew the GT4 mirrors were very similar if not the same as the E36, however my understanding was that they had modified base's to mount up properly to the E92 doors. The part numbers you have shared indicate they may be exactly the same, base and all.
Lukster and some of the guys I shared PM's with years ago mentioned they could directly mount E36 mirrors to their cars only because they had carbon doors - giving them the opportunity to mount them in any way they chose. I need to get my hands on an E36 mirror.

I ordered some replica e36 m3 mirrors and a used 328i E92 mirror. I will see if there's a way to fit them on the M3. I am guessing that I will need to do a custom mount utilizing the e92 base (so that it fits the car perfectly). More to follow. According to a post I found from Lukester, these mirrors save about 4 lbs. I will weigh and verify
