I did my wheels in only 8 hours .
BTW ..I'm serious .
That's dedication. But what on earth could take 8 hours? Did you make sand castings and pour the aluminum yourself?

I've got a tiny bit of curb rash. That kind of attention wouldn't be justified because I'd just be sad about the dings.

OP--epic first post. I'll admit that initially I thought you were repping Chemical Guys, but your post and the ensuing doo-doo storm have been thoroughly entertaining. Your car looks badass, BTW. I'm a fan of alpine white, obviously, and the carbon fiber accents are cool.

This forum is a brodown. I hope you stick around and talk some shit.

If he's got raw polished wheels with complicated spoke design, I can see 8 hours to polish all the wheels.

Personally, i was psyched to see a detailing thread because I went to the annual M3 meet-up at Griots Garage in Tacoma, Washington, last weekend and came home with five different kinds of special fu@%ing towels, a clay bar kit, some kind of spray for the clay, some polymer wax sealant, exterior rubber seal treatment, and special foam pads to apply the wax. I've allotted 3 hours for this project tomorrow. That's probably optimistic.
Crap I missed that? Didn't get my usual invite.
THREAD JACK!

Yeah, I can't remember where I saw the invite--something from PSBMWCCA maybe, then I forgot, then I saw a post on the local NW forum. Would've been nice to see a car that's been tracked. I sensed most cars were big hat, no cattle (mine included).

@ OP: Congrats on your new whip. Your car looks fabulous and seems destined to "live" a charmed and pampered "life". Well done.

Even as you are a newb to the forum, there can be no doubt that the bevy of pics left more than one member feeling deprived of posting something with this .... major props there.

P.S. Welcome

It is pretty comical I must say. I've tried to remain neutral and respectful in this thread, but all the "hey I'm local to you. Hope to see you around *winky face*" responses are what make this thread a win

Man I love this car. I love spending every moment in it, even during rush hour traffic. No need to give a review of the car since all you guys very well know your own M3 inside out!
Hope to see you guys on the road, and I'll be waving!

Here is why the 8 hours...
It's about the 19'///M220 wheels .

1-Wash with foamgun with Wolfgang Autobathe shampoo => 2 x
2-Meguiars Claybar with Meguiars Ultimate Quick Detailer => 2 x
3-Meguiars Goldclass polish
4-Sonax Polymer Netshield => 2x

So actually it were lots of wheels...
Note : Inner barrels too !
I can only say that the ///M220 wheels are really a pain in the a$$...
After that 8 hours I felt like a cripple , but after driving 500 miles my wheels still look amazing !
Hope to keep them that way ...

Why would you clay twice? That's overkill.

lol yea wonder how many guys get invited to airstrip events.

I bet longboarder was like "yes!! It's a date!!" When she said she'd go.

Great enthusiasm but this chick just invited every weirdo with an M3 to approach her if she is ever seen locally.... Not her fault. Just the way creeps are. And that, my friends..... is why we can't have nice things.

Because I found that the surface was not smooth enough after the first claybar .
Drove a few weeks before the detail on a new asfalt road (high speed corners) and had some serious sticky asfalt spots on my wheels and were not 100% removed after the first claybar .
Second time I used some butter ...The butter worked perfect to remove the 5H1T and after I did the second claybar .
All this takes lots of time to went into the perfect mode .

Ah, but that shouldn't be a normal occurrence. I've never had to clay twice, lol.

you should see my X5, it's never been detailed or hand washed in its life prior to my ownership. 2-years of grime on AW paint. I've already clay'd it 3 times and there's still a layer of sand/dirt particles on it.
