Only because you had "a service technician" who stated the famous rod bearing doesn't make this assumption legit. All rod bearing issues are made up, believe me...you are one of the unfortunate people that bought a car without a real record and only god knows how it was treated in his multiple location visits. You can't compare, as I mentioned earlier, apples with oranges. Your car has been used, probably abused, totalled, fixed, maybe stolen recovered or flooded...who knows...and at the end maybe fixed together in an Ma and Pa backyard shop( not saying they did a bad job but that's were little, tiny mistakes can happen due to people that are not that mechanically inclined as an certified BMW M technician ) So you can't compare your car with an properly from BMW by BMW certified technician's serviced M3 and also spread at the same time the ice cold rod bearing death breath over the forum. To sum it up to all you grashopper's out there: It's very unlikely that this will happen to the majority of M3 E92 owner's! So drive it and enjoy life, instead of beeing constantly in thread, only because a few smart buisenes man found a way to open up your wallet ![]() |

I never reported mine here, but my engine failed a few months ago as well. 61k miles, with my original rod bearings replaced by the dealership at 17k miles. I have the extended warranty and still had to fight BMW to get them to replace mine because they said they saw videos of my car on the track and that's considered abuse. Always warm up my engine before pushing it, oil changes every 6-8k miles, and always keep it topped off. It can happen to anyone.

Oil changed every 7,500 miles. Get your head out of the sand, people who treat their car like its a small child are even having these failures. If you want to ignore the facts that's fine I could care less, but don't go telling everyone that its made up BS. BMW sersly dropped the ball period.

Saw on here perfect reports and after a while the S65 was blown . Sure I could be wrong , but when things like this are happen it's no guarantee . Damn I realy don't want to open up my engine ,actualy it's a giant problem on such an expensive car ! So for the moment I'm listening after ticking or rattle noises ...lol . Hope I never hear them ,and when I hear them...than maybe it's already too late . It's a miracle that people are not get badly wounded or worse ....In other words... our S65 can also blown while driving 100-150 mph ....Imagine the accident! And for me personal till today we are very lucky ! So no worries it's only a mistake made by BMW... ![]()

You already won the bet. This is a guy who will never track his car or ever push it beyond 5K RPM. He is the most embarrassing person on this forum, and using him as a stand-in for every other BMW customer of his ilk, I hold him personally responsible for everything BMW is doing "wrong" today.

Sorry for your troubles OP, I know the guy that got you to post about it. If you need anything from us just shoot me a PM Maybe we should just axe the entire custom bearing order because this is all just made up. ![]()

I think I'm actually driving less at 125500+ miles hoping my car won't develop a serious problem before you get the new bearings going Kawasaki, don't give up. I'm waiting.

Rotten bit of luck, mate.
So you found out that your car was totaled after you bought it, you lawyered up, the dealer wouldn't buy it back..then what happened? Did you get anything out of the lawsuit? |
