My latest report had aluminum at 2, iron at 7, and copper at 1. Nothing in my report stood out. In the 3 previous oil changes, aluminum has been dropping from 5, iron has been the same (typical of M1 0-40), copper has been the same at 1. So I will say there is no trend. It doesn't indicate anything. Everything was very good and clean. You can find my report and my thread on the bearing change and you can decide what your bearings might be like compare to mine.
Oh boy !!! So .... BAsically fucked if that's ur destiny ..... All rite then .....

Sadly these metals are not as indicative of problems. I am unsure of the benefit of Blackstone reports for MY'11+ cars, but I keep doing it anyway.

When the first engine blew up, I called BMWs mobility service (sort of like AAA, but provided by BMW, they usually drive in X5s full of computers and the most common spare parts that might break) and I didn't even need to finish describing what happened, they service tech on the phone already said it's very much sounds like the common M3 rod problem.

I do agree however that's it seems unlikely your engine is gonna blow, at least I hope so. But I still think the number of blown engines is above the norm.

I'm sorry for the confusion. I updated the post. I wanted to keep the post short, so I didn't get into all the details from the first thread. I just thought it was clear it was a used car, since the E92 M3 is not being built anymore and also driving 250+ with a brand new engine would not be something anyone sane would do I've also mentioned the engine's 45k mileage, so I didn't think anyone would assume the car was brand new.

I also wanted to clarify that I do not think the car was being rebuilt in that shady Dutch area/garage. Like I wrote earlier, the car did not have any signs of shady craftsmanship, on the contrary. There are no missing parts and no parts from third party manufacturers, everything's OEM. The car drove and handled top notch (aside from the blown engine of course, lol).
I disagree, you also should see it this way:

Only because you had "a service technician" who stated the famous rod bearing doesn't make this assumption legit.
All rod bearing issues are made up, believe me...you are one of the unfortunate people that bought a car without a real record and only god knows how it was treated in his multiple location visits.
You can't compare, as I mentioned earlier, apples with oranges. Your car has been used, probably abused, totalled, fixed, maybe stolen recovered or flooded...who knows...and at the end maybe fixed together in an Ma and Pa backyard shop( not saying they did a bad job but that's were little, tiny mistakes can happen due to people that are not that mechanically inclined as an certified BMW M technician )
So you can't compare your car with an properly from BMW by BMW certified technician's serviced M3 and also spread at the same time the ice cold rod bearing death breath over the forum.
To sum it up to all you grashopper's out there:

It's very unlikely that this will happen to the majority of M3 E92 owner's!
So drive it and enjoy life, instead of beeing constantly in thread, only because a few smart buisenes man found a way to open up your wallet

I never reported mine here, but my engine failed a few months ago as well. 61k miles, with my original rod bearings replaced by the dealership at 17k miles. I have the extended warranty and still had to fight BMW to get them to replace mine because they said they saw videos of my car on the track and that's considered abuse. Always warm up my engine before pushing it, oil changes every 6-8k miles, and always keep it topped off. It can happen to anyone.

I'm reading between the line's and for me it's very obvious why your engine failed.

For me, even it is a M-machine, it's still a burbling V8 and V8's have their comfort zone in lower region's. Only because the fact, german engineer's managed and finally allowed you to rocket these engine's into beyond possible high RPM areas, doesn't also mean these car's actually like to be reved that high.
As for me, my car won't see past 5k ...screw everything else what they say, high reving motor and all that jazz? V8 is a V8!

I never tracked my car, explain why my bearing were shot to shit at 31k>?
Oil changed every 7,500 miles.
Get your head out of the sand, people who treat their car like its a small child are even having these failures. If you want to ignore the facts that's fine I could care less, but don't go telling everyone that its made up BS.
BMW sersly dropped the ball period.

Personal I think a Blackstone report means nothing !
Saw on here perfect reports and after a while the S65 was blown .
Sure I could be wrong , but when things like this are happen it's no guarantee .
Damn I realy don't want to open up my engine ,actualy it's a giant problem on such an expensive car !
So for the moment I'm listening after ticking or rattle noises ...lol .
Hope I never hear them ,and when I hear them...than maybe it's already too late .
It's a miracle that people are not get badly wounded or worse ....In other words... our S65 can also blown while driving 100-150 mph ....Imagine the accident!
And for me personal till today we are very lucky !
So no worries it's only a mistake made by BMW...

Dude, you make it sound like your engine blew with these numbers! It didn't though, and from what I remember, your bearings (while worn) looked very good by comparison (correct me if I'm wrong)! So yes, copper is still a wear metal that you can monitor for increased bearing wear on the newer bearings.

You already won the bet. This is a guy who will never track his car or ever push it beyond 5K RPM. He is the most embarrassing person on this forum, and using him as a stand-in for every other BMW customer of his ilk, I hold him personally responsible for everything BMW is doing "wrong" today.

As far as I can tell, no one is asking anyone to open their wallet. Opening your wallet will happen when you don't believe the issue and you need to buy an engine because there is a hole in the block and it is now only good for a scrap aluminum!

Whole lot of BS in this thread.
Sorry for your troubles OP, I know the guy that got you to post about it. If you need anything from us just shoot me a PM

Maybe we should just axe the entire custom bearing order because this is all just made up.

Yeah, no V8s can possibly rev that high! I need to make sure I treat my V8 just like a Ford flat head from the 1940s because there has been no progress on motors since then.

I think I'm actually driving less at 125500+ miles hoping my car won't develop a serious problem before you get the new bearings going Kawasaki, don't give up. I'm waiting.

I didn't think I make it sound like my engine blew. Sorry if that confused anyone. I never meant or implied my engine blew. I was merely answering the other poster question if there is a trend that can be monitored with aluminum and copper. From my reports, I didn't see a trend.

Rotten bit of luck, mate.

So you found out that your car was totaled after you bought it, you lawyered up, the dealer wouldn't buy it back..then what happened? Did you get anything out of the lawsuit?
