I don't think "old" (just plain old TWS) has been available for a while now. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.
This is the old stuff, BTW:

yep, it was phased out around summer-fall 2012. But some owners like myself still had old TWS in our cars in the beginning of 2014 as we purchased our oil filled in early-mid 2013. My UOA history spans the use of old TWS and new TWS Edge Pro...so for comparison purposes, it should be noted...just saying |

Notes on the car, 2008 M3 E90, bought used from a Chrysler dealership, blindly, got it shipped from east to west across Canada. History report says it had 3 changes before I bought it at 28xxxkm. When I upgraded the software to 240e, the the tuning dude says he's never seen software as old as mine 060e!! So it must be one of the first batches to Canada, manufacturer date was Jan 2008.
Changed out the oil at 31000km, should have tested that.. was dark as shit.. kids at the dealership were probably having a field day with the car. My first 2 reports. Lead was a real issue in the first, as I ran wayy to long.. Reading all those bearing threads this made me nervous. After the second report, I feel much better, car runs like a champ, doesn't burn oil.. I get 11.6L/100km fuel mileage. Only time will tell. |

I see quite a few UOAs with Liqui-Moly 10w-60. My indie mechanic won't run it in the S65, he says it's pretty thick when cold. I'll have to get some specs and compare (I bet it's been done here somewhere already).

Here is my latest oil analysis. Only 2 track days on this oil which is lower than the previous ones. They also wrote the wrong mileage on the report so I corrected it. If you are wondering why he is talking about not finding water in the comments, it is because I forgot the sample container Blackstone provided and just grabbed an empty plastic water bottle I had just finished and tried my best to get it dry, but there were still some drops of water in it when I handed it over to the dealer.
Still not sure what metal to look at to determine wear in the newer bearings. Overall it looks like a good report to me with the metals being lower than in the past, but the car did not get hammered at the track that much this time. Any comments and feedback are always welcome.

I have had the car for a year and have had 12 track days on the motor and 5 on this oil. I know the mileage is low but these miles are anything but easy miles.

You need to pay for TBN and TAN if you want any meaningful understanding of change intervals.

Things look fine, though you should be paying for TBN and TAN to understand the appropriate change interval. Particle counts alone are of limited use.

Correct. TWS is unusual in that it has very good cold pumpability, which you can attribute to the group V basestocks. Most other 10w60s I've seen on the market are definitely not designed to be used in colder climates.

One word comes to mind when looking at my latest report...
![]() Mobil 1 0W-40 with 9,700 miles and no track days or autocrossing. Just drove it like it was built to be driven, especially around round-abouts on the way to/from work. 8300 sure sounds nice when everything is warm (never with cold oil). |

Roundabouts as in g forces possibly causing some starvation? (reaching far here on stock tires/suspension assumption)

Has anyone taken a blackstone sample without doing a full oil change? I'm coming up on a change and would like to see how things look before determining what oil to go with. Any recommendations on the best way to approach this? Presumably, I'd just drain a bit from the rear bolt after everything is up to temp, though I understand that the first few ounces aren't great for testing and may lead to flawed results.

Mobil 1 0W40 is a good oil , but not for our S65 !
Increase of metals means lack of lubrication film especially on small clearances like knew of our S65 ! Personal i'll keep it with EDGE ! Actualy I had both between my fingers and could feel the difference , EDGE sticks more and longer than the Mobil ! Conclusion for me personal is that the lubrication film of EDGE is way better !

Isn't 9700 miles on Mobil1 beyond its recommended change interval? I know the Mobil1 Extended Performance oil says it can go to 15k miles. But the 0W40 is not available in Extended Performance.
I plan on changing my 0W40 every 5k miles.

But even at double that interval, that report above does not look normal. |
