actually i decided to give up my spot stay home and try to work on a issue im having...cooling my brakes...thanks to my boy 1MOREMOD and his thread i setup a brake cooling system until a get a set of brake cooling plates on...

My second HPDE weekend was in the rain (for the first day) and it was a great learning experience. So long as you have a set of wet wheels you're good to go.

My first three track days started out ~37 degrees and wet. First day a 400 whp STI lifted on the back stretch (slight curve) nosed into the wall, bounced off and hit the outside wall and came back onto the track. I learned a lot that day.

Don't terminate the hose at the fender well. Continue it on, route and zip tie pointing at the back of the rotor. You can buy backing plates if you want but not necessary. The hose will get kinked and worn over time.

well i decided to try on the set of bimmerworld CF plates i had laying around...im just going to run the hose directly to them. but i found out the plates need to be sanded down on some sort of table sander as they rub on the inside of the rotors...you would think for 400$ he would fit...now i need to find a place that has a table sander...

Can they be bent back some? Time to buy your own sander, would think orbital or dremmel would work.

they are CF so o bending....i have a hand held belt sander but concerned it wont be even if done w/ a smaller hand held...i may have no choice though

I was just about to say don't buy the bw cf backing plates. Not on my car but have seen them up close and personal with a ST60. You have to nearly cut the entire lip off.....therefore there is little space for air flow. A friend ran them for one year and is now trying without any backing plates.

also what makes it worse is i just called BW to ask hem about it and they gave me the "this is the 1st we ever heard of this problem"....

That's pretty common. The nt01 splice thread demonstrated it, they kept telling mutiple people exactly that even though we all knew of the problem.

well do you think the pics above will provide enough cooling?

I think it would be helpful to point them right at the back of the rotor. If you alter the backing plate for OEM it will be different for each BBK. I would either wait or return the plates.

Did you talk to a salesperson? Believe it or not...they aren't answering the phone in full race gear. Maybe than ONE guy didn't hear about it. Not saying that BW is infallible...I did buy PF FCABs for my E46 M3 which melted after I called back to tell them what happened...they knew about it. So much for testing EVERYTHING they sell but no one does.

With that, I'm SURE those backing plates were made for OEM rotors with are 30mm thick. Assuming the same centerline on the rotor, a 380mmx35mm rotor would reduce clearance by 2.5mm. Those backing plates have to be close to the back of the rotor to minimize air leakage. Otherwise you drastically reduce the cooling effect.

like everything else i always expect pats to have some minor issues....anyone who has been doin this sport longer then a few ears know that most parts dont just go right on... with that said i test fitted them to OEM rotors i bought from you

I put some extra mm's on there for you...that's why they don't fit
