Don't think so. BMW Assist can remotely unlock your car but not start...

They can start your car. I've had a friend who's had BMW start his car multiple times.

my buddy used to do it through bmw assist. He used to say it was an emergency on the phone though. Apparently its frowned upon.

Hmmm...since OnStar can do it I suspect BMW could do so with proper coercion from the police...
That said, I don't know if they can start your car. I DO KNOW Chuck Norris can... |

Edit: There is a remote start function that's in the CAS or NFRM module, which might allow them to do it. I have not seen it done in front of me though. Last edited by BPMSport; 09-25-2012 at 04:43 PM.. |

As for starting, I've never asked about it. If it's possible though, wonder what happens on MT cars. Do you have to hold your foot on the clutch for the one-minute or greater delays between requesting a command and it actually executing? Since someone mentioned OnStar, they have a cool feature that can gradually reduce the engine's power output. It requires that your car be reported stolen and that the cops tell OnStar they've found it and are in pursuit (presumably from OnStar's tracking feature), at which point this slows the thief down. Safer than just remotely cutting the engine, and I thought it was a cool idea when I read it.
