I was trying to get an idea of the viscosity of the oil at cold temps. But 0-20C would be far more useful anyway! Perhaps the density at 15C would be a more useful gauge? As new density is spec'd @15C g/ml 0.8458 From the OA my oil was 0.857, if my maths are right that's just a 1.3% increase.

Blackstone Oil Analysis — E93 M3
I thought I’d share several years of Blackstone oil analysis on my summer-only E93 M3. The latest sample was after 9,300 km, and the results were pretty impressive. Wear metals are in good shape, iron actually decreased despite the longer oil interval, and Blackstone noted that the engine’s wear profile is almost a mirror image of the universal averages. The TBN was still 3.5, meaning there was plenty of additive life remaining. Not bad for an S65 with some miles on it! 🏁 I’ve included the redacted report showing the results from the different oil changes over the past couple of years. Full disclosure: Original bearings. 10W60 with a can of Luiqi Molly MoS2. Daily driver - summer only. Parked 6+ months of the year. Oil change kits from FCP |
