By this , I get an overview of the latest threads, posts and news .

How come no one updates this thread anymore? Did engines stop blowing?

I was wondering that too (last report was August last year for jvictormp's car, which IIRC appears to be down to an injector failure weakening a rod which failed a few months later, yet TBC).
Too good to be true though?.....

Maybe deansbimmer has had some recent cases!?

People either replaced rod shells and/or started to change oil and warm up...

Yes, you can confirm. 30 months later, actually.

Now updated, and wow that was quite a delayed failure!

Not a blown motor, but I have a 2010 car that cracked a valve-spring crack on cylinder #7.

After months of lowballs and flakes while trying to sell it cheap, I took off market and put the cash into pulling the heads and refreshing the top end.

Small miracle that the valve didn't drop.

What symptoms were you getting? At least cyl 7 misfire I'd think? Would be interesting to know more.
How many miles has it done?
Was the spring 'only' cracked, or had it actually broken?

Really appreciate you guys keeping an eye out.

Here's a little something for the stuck injectors leading to blown motors. Had my injectors cleaned. I have no idea what all the numbers mean, but 5 of them were "dripping" and 3 were just "fair" before the cleaning! I try to use Top Tier fuel when ever possible. Maybe it's in my head, but it does seem to accelerate better now. I could never pull on my buddy at the track who's stock despite me a primary catless X-Pipe for the track and a pully.
I'm just hoping I don't have a "stuck injector issue" after cleaning.

If nothing else it'll use a little less fuel , but it probably will give a slight increase in HP.
I would think cleaning the injectors will make it less likely they'd stick.

How many miles has your car done?
And how much was the injector cleaning?

I have 70,000 miles.
I'm still waiting on the injector cleaning bill.
I've been going to AutoTalent for years now. They let me pick up the car late at night, and send me the bill later when he gets around to it.
It's going to be a big bill. SLON VANOS covers, valve covers powder coated for bubbling, new front Stoptech rotors, injectors cleaned, coils changed and changed back because the NKG one's don't work!! Plugs changed, power steering reservoir changed out.

I'll update the thread when I get the bill.
