Yeah . So sorry to hear this ... Wish you the best of luck !
Sorry to hear about this NWRNR21 :(

Does it have the original rod bearings?
And you're sure it's the rod bearings gone? You didn't mention how far any investigation went.

Mate .You should reply the post with a quote . Your post is invisible for him...
He will get a notification by your quote ,then he knows that you replied him .
Hope , this will help !
Isn't the default setting for this forum to automatically sub you to a thread you've posted to? In which case he should get a notification.
That's been the case at most other forums I'm registered to....

Do you see the "RED" circle , right below in my picture ? ( I made it look RED ) That's the reply "WITH A QUOTE BUTTON" to reply and to get a notification from your post .
Click first on that button to reply , then go to the Submit Reply button in the middle below .
Actually It's a piece of cake ! :D

Appreciate the sympathy! Very unlucky.

100% positive I spun a rod bearing. I heard ticking at low RPM (2000 - 2500RPM) one day. Once it rev'd past that, the noise went away.

Note: I noticed this myself. I didn't read through the forums and start convincing myself that I heard something. As I'll mention again below, I spend very very little time reading the forums.

I kept noticing it and started getting worried. Decided to take it to a shop. They opened it up and found that bearing 8 (The number may be wrong, but closest to the transmission.) had spun. Number 7 was just about to spin. Majority of copper showing on 7. Bearing wear was better (less significant) the closer you got to the front of the car. Curious if this is consistent with other rod bearing failures... I don't spend much time digging through the forums.

Sorry, forgot to answer this, but yes. They were the original bearings.
Thanks for the answers NWRNR21

Huh? Are you replying to someone else's post? ;)
I know how to use quotes and have used them at different forums (and here) for decades now :p (yea I'm old, lol).
That isn't what I asked, but I assume the 'negative' was the reply to my question? In which case, duly noted for future reference

Well you see ! You just did it mate !
I got a notification from your reply-post "with a quote".By this I know you replied me .
Honestly , your posts were like a shot in the dark...

Well done . Congrats mate !
No need for sarcasm, as said I've used quotes before, just I'm used to most forums having notifications on by default once someone has posted to a thread.

As for you not getting notifications when I or anyone replies to thread you've posted in, you need to turn on your notifications! :p ;)

The 'Notifications are always activated at this forum.
Ok I'm lost now, I thought you said that they weren't on by default? (21/7 when you said 'Negative!').
But if they are, there's no need to quote ;)

I didn't got a notification from "this (your) "post, because (again) you didn't replied my post with a quote .
I'm lost in words .

Never mind . Carry on ...

You're making this unnecessarily hard because you're not explaining yourself properly :p lol.
But I get you now, I think, you're saying the notifications are on by default here only when quoting someone? (you didn't mention those 2 points together).
That's why I said you can turn on notifications for when someone replies to a thread you've posted to without them quoting you. A lot people don't quote because it's often not needed and/or most other forums don't require a quote to send a notification. So you'll be missing out on many replies here!

Anyway, sorted now, hopefully! :)

Sorry for taking this thread OT guys.

Also noted that you often reply in a thread without quoting the post which as Belgium says, doesn't turn up on tge others side and risk "getting lost".
Ps. No need to reply on this...😎

Yea I know that now :p ;) (it's not the norm amongst forums, hence why I didn't).

Lol, well I'm sure many have changed the forum default to notifications on replies.

I'm curious how do you and Helmsman's user avatarHelmsman keep track of new posts in threads where new people post or others don't quote?

Should've said, If you want to reply, PM me.
