How wide a tire on E92 ZCP rims?

How wide a tire has anyone put on rear 19 inch Competition Package rims without appearing stretched or rubbing on the wheel well?

I have Pirelli P Zeros in 255/35/19 front and 285/35/19 on the rear. I was just wondering if I could go wider on the rear without rolling the fenders.

When I went from the stock 265/35/19s, which have a diameter of 26.3 inches, to the 285s, I had a choice of the 30 aspect tires with a diameter of 25.7" or 35 aspect tires with a diameter of 26.9. I went with the taller tire so as not to increase the speedometer error.

I just took possession of an E90 Competition Package with 295/30-19 PSS's on the rear ZCP. No rubbing whatsoever, loads of grip, and looks awesome!

The GTS shows us that 255/285 is totally doable, especially since 245/265 is actually "stretched" on a rim that wide in the rear. I've seen 295 and it looks a bit bubbly for me but I think it is pretty safe to do so.

Question really is, how necessary is it? You're adding unsprung weight and cost while you may not require the extra grip unless you're running more power.

Wider tire = more weight. Unless you need the grip because OMGESSKITBRO, this is the "stretch and poke" mentality that will get you laughed out of here.

Good link. It looks like most folks went with the .6 inch shorter tire when going to 285 width tire rather than going to the.6 inch taller tire. It would seem that this would increase the already nearly 5% speedometer optimism on our cars.

Anybody here running 255/35/19 front and 285/30/19 or 295/30/19 rear? If yes, do you have any issues with DSC being to sensitive/engaging too early?

Yes, 255/35-19 and 295/30-19 are the exact sizes of PSS I'm currently running on my new ride. I have had absolutely no DSC issues whatsoever.

You need to check the specs of the specific tire you want to run as the tread width for one 295 tire is not the same width as another 295.

After all is said and done, in terms of overall fitment, proper front/rear balance, grip, ride, noise, responsiveness, I have come to the conclusion that the absolute best street set-up for a normally aspirated M3 is:

255/35/19 Michelin PSS on a 19x9.5" front wheel with 24mm offset and a
275/35/19 Michelin PSS on a 19x10.5" rear wheel with a 22mm offset
