Engine RPM movement after fill up
Hi guys,
So after about 10% of my fillups, the car's engine will rev from about 500-1500 rpm on it's own for 30 seconds to a minute without me touching the throttle. Kind of odd, has it happened to anyone else? Anyone know if it's something I should be concerned with? Thanks |

Does that for me but it happens when starting in cold weather, haven't noticed it after gassing up. If it does it often it could be an idle control valve problem (thoroughly discussed in threads here if you search), but from what you describe it sounds normal.

A 30 second to a minute rev increase does not sound normal to me.
Mine has a slight idle increase during warmup; but, it's a brief increase, lasting, maybe, 5 seconds. This slight idle increase always occurs towards the end of the warm up cycle in the morning at first start up. Sometimes it happens when I stop then, shortly thereafter, restart the engine - like when gassing up. |

Mine sputters at idle, then surges, after 50-75% of my fillups. Actually died at a light once. Only does that within the first mile. Never again for the entire tank. 2009 DCT, stock software. |

add a bottle of chevron techron next time, run it through a tank (the 20 gallon one) and I assure you this will go away. Will have to repeat every 3-5 months.

Hmm, yeah, it goes away after I start driving. I'll do some research on techron and see how it goes. At first my thought was fuel pump, since I usually fill up all the way from about a little less than 1/8 tank, but who knows.

My E46 M3 did this all the time, probably 90% of fill-ups. Added Techron to it, not much of a change. So far the E92 hasn't done much of this yet (maybe a small blip here and there) but I wouldn't be alarmed if it did.
