Thanks, e90m3japan. Assuming that the suspension for the E90 is different than the E92, is there any chance that you'll also be able to grab an E92 VIN once you get back to Japan?

Just curious, but what do you do for a living in Japan? I go there a couple of times a year, but mostly for fun.

There should be a VIN on your windshield recessed on the inside but it's clearly visible on the drivers side*
* I don't remember which side. I'm too lazy to look at my car right now. |

The M3 special edition is going to be 10mm lower so I am assuming it will use the Japanese springs.

Seems crazy to have different suspension set-up for Japan only. I don't know, but is Japan really that big a market for M3's?
Would make sense to me if it's a RHD thing and the steering rack is different and so on and so forth (may be). But that should mean that the UK, Australia, New Zealand get the same set up as Japan. Can anyone verify this? I don't have an M3 yet but mine will be a UK-spec car but I don't think I'll place my order till the LCI next year (ARRRRGH!!!!) so I can't confirm anything right now. Can anyone in the UK (or anyone with a RHD M3) help? I know the Japanese M3 in the (lovely) photo with Mt.Fuji is LHD, but to me the camber looks funny so I'm not sure how much lower it really is or was in stock form... Anyway, it just doesn't make much sense to me, that's all. I mean, you can have smooth roads and all that, but is it really that significant that makes BMW decide to lower the car just for one market? May be it's something to do with the local laws and regulations? People have some funny laws - iirc in Japan you're not allowed to lower the car more than an inch form stock or something. May be there are other regulations that we don't know about? Anyway, credits to the OP for finding this and respect to BMW if they actually take local conditions into considerations when designing cars for each market. |

As soon as e90m3japan gets me the info I will get you guys the info. this is the second member in this thread to claim to be able to get a hold of a VIN for a Japan spec //M who has gone dark/silent or couldn't get the info. If and when I get the info I will need less than a working day to get all info on part#s, prices, and how quickly I could get it out to people if they wanted the stuff if you need help.
Cheers, e46e92

ok I am eagerly awaiting the VIN.
Oh if you open the hood of your car, its stamped on the chassis on the top of the wheel well. Its also on a sticker behind the license plate on the trunk.

Hello, M3 Fighter Pilots!!
First of all, I apologize for checking this thread became too late and replying your questions and PMs became toooo late. (I was mainly checking "DIY Guides/Discussions".) This is my M3 Coupe's VIN code. The perfect photo including last 7 digits, I will send PM to aajami. He send me a notice. I deeply admire your studies about the difference between Euro, US and JPN suspension system. I wish that my information is useful for enjoying DIY to you. Thanks.

Didn't read the whole thread, but I'm assuming it would have something to do with the Japans roads? They are as smooth as glass.. =[ Chicago's roads are not.
