Road Trip

I have a wedding coming up with an 800 miles drive. I'm debating whether to rent an econobox car that will save a little money after rental and better mpg plus wear and tear on the M. Or take the M and enjoy it for the trip. The only reason I am considering taking the M (other than the fact it would be a lot more enjoyable for the trip) is b/c I only have about 11 months of warranty left or 12k miles and if something is going to go wrong in those 12k miles, I'd like it to be while I am still under warranty. I do plan to keep the car for an extended period after warranty but have not decided if i will be an extended warranty.

You should sell the M3 and worry no more!!

Seriously, this is a great road trip car... Why even consider getting a rental is beyond me

Do you think you can drive 12k miles in 11 months? If not....I say drive your M. Have fun..

Good to get her out on the road every now and then.

Enjoy the trip with the M! I'm about to take a 1400 mile journey this weekend and I wouldn't be excited about it unless I was driving my M3.

Even nicer is that you can tear it up all you want on country roads and still get 16 mpg..

Now don't ask me what I get in the city. Roadtrip!

Great on road trips! I usually pack one of my winter wheels in the trunk as a spare. It saves me from having to deal with any patch kits or closed tire shops...

save a few dollars from the rental and use that for gas.

i'm doing a similar trip - NJ to RI - only 200 miles each way but would be nice to let the lady stretch her legs.

great idea on the spare tire...

That is me on the left, smacking you on the right. OF COURSE you take the ///M. If I were an owner, I would make up reasons (excuses, according to my wife) to drive it.

I would drive it unless severe weather like hail or tornados are in the forecast. I drove mine last summer from Oklahoma to Michigan and back and averaged about 22 MPG. Would do it again in a heartbeat!

By simply asking the questions means you don't deserve the M!!! Drive the damn thing for god's sake and quit worrying about the warranty.

Dude, take the M3. You bought the car to drive it, not to leave it sitting in the garage.

Rack up those miles and stone chips with pride. They're signs that the car was driven and loved.

I just returned from an 1800 mile road trip in mine. Did I spend a lot on gas? Yep. Did it get dirty? Yep. Did I enjoy every moment of driving it? Yes I did.

Agreed with the above. So easy to worry about this car without just enjoying it. Have to remember that is why we buy these damn cars. To be driven hard and thoroughly enjoyed.
