Thoughts on the Turner Rear Subframe + Rear Diff Aluminum/Delrin Bushings
Has anyone been running these for any length of time? I am trying to avoid Poly given the continued maintenance.
Unsure if I want to deal with solid on a street car, so i am hoping these is the middle ground or NVH and performance. |

Either aluminum or poly are suitable for the street.

There is zero NVH with Solid Subframe bushings and minimal NVH with Delrin differential bushings.
If you are going to go this route, go solid in the sub-frame, otherwise polyurethane is not worth while given the labor involved. The poly bushings are not much stiffer than the M rubber bushings.

Subframe bushings don't squeak. Our shop car has been running polyurethane for months.
We have solid ones in the meantime ready for the track car.

You don't need to lube them or maintain them as often as a poly sway bar bushing, but they do need maintenance, and they will also fail with time.

I have been running mine for little while now. One thing to keep in mind.
-New M3/5 M4/6 and M3 GTS all have solid subframes and beefed up differential mounts. If your willing to own one of these then your willing to go solid on at least the subframe. I have all aluminum subframe and differential bushings. In short, the car just feels solid now and I can rest easy that my differential bolt will never brake due to flex. I am one of those guys that actually really loves the sound the differential bushings bring into the car. If you did not know it was the bushings you would think it was just a great engine and tranny sound.

I ran a full Moton Club Sport setup with GC race everything on my e46 and now trying to bridge the gap between race and street. My e46 made all types of noises, as much as i loved it, it did get tiring after a while. With my e92 I want it to me solid and only change things once. I LOVE the idea of swamping the bushings out for solid in the NVH is minimal so they will be a maintenance free item. I am also researching suspensions and thus far the Ohlins setup appeals to me most, again, loose a little comfort on the street, but not all of it. The e46 I had was no compromises. This one will only see a few weekends a year on the track. I am actually hoping to build an e46 M3 track only car .. that will be like the old one. Solid everything .. no compromises. |

Sounds like the solid subframe bushings offer no increased NVH but solid differential bushings do. What is the most prominent impact: noise, vibration, or harshness or all 3? A little noise wouldn't bother me, the other two probably would. thx in advance

Plus, once you go coilovers, sway bars, solid tie arm bushings ect... things really get harsh. I would stick with a good set of coilovers, solid subframe/diff and call it a day. Solid subframe and diff bushings will not effect street ability at all and will not add any harshness. See below. No harshness.... from about 4K on up you will get a sound that is sort of like a mini F1 engine or roots type blower spinning up. My dad used to have a Harley F150 edition truck that had a roots blower on it. It sounds like that to me but not as loud. In fact, if you roll the window down or listen to music, even at a low setting, the NVH gets drowned out. I personally love this sound, the mini F1 sound combined with my GTS exhaust really makes my car feel special when I am driving. Come to think of it, some of you guys with loud exhausts will probably not be able to hear the NVH. I personally think the solid or delrin diff mounts are a must for anyone with a 6MT that "enjoys" driving or tracks.
