what I am doing wrong here? I had to go buy a new laptop for this silly coding and i'm getting slightly sorta
coming from mac I realize again why I hate PCs so much......

Sounds like a bad cable..had a similar situation in the past and ESS sent out a new one and problem was fixed. Contact them, they typically respond very quickly.

I had the same issue when I was trying to read the codes and all I did was go where I had a internet connection and it worked just fine.

I dont know if you have to have a internet connection or not but when I do it works seamlessly and when I dont it wont recognize the USB so my theory in my case is you have to have internet connection to work??

either way contact Roman@ess thats always your best bet.

PS: I am a mac only guy as well but I went on Tigerdirect.com and bought a cheap refurbished PC laptop with windows 7 (the software runs better on windows 7) and threw it in my trunk so its always available whenever I need to tune etc.. paid 275 bucks for a 13" toshiba

I have seen this happen a few times.

-Delete the software off the computer.
-plug in usb
-reinstall software

this process should work
