F30 328d for wife

Guys so my wife has just about had it with the Boxster-s's size and practicality. We have been looking at cars that get good gas milage and are still fun to drive, we only like german cars so we have looked at the 328i, 328d, X3 28i, glk250 bluetec, c250, and Audi Q5 Tdi. I really want her to get a 328d wagon but she does not like wagons so we think the 328d might be a good option. We have no kids as of today but she will be keeping this car for at least 4 years and we plan to have at least one or two kids by then. My question is how do you guys think the 328d sedan might be for space with one kid, this includes car seat and stroller. Do you guys think this is a good option for a small family that needs a fuel efficient, safe , fun car? Any input is appreciated especially if you have kids and drive a sedan. Dealer is offering me 1.8k off msrp plus a 500 bmw loyalty discount, still havent pulled the plug on building it but we are close to doing it.

any F30 sedan should fit a toddler and carry stuff in the trunk with ease. The room is pretty generous. I would say it's good for at least when the kid grows up to about middle school. (not that your car will be around for 13 years or so).

Also, I'm not sure how big you are or your wife is. B/c if you're like 6 foot 4, then the rear leg room gets crunched up, again, not a big deal for a toddler, but will not be comfortable for a teenager.

My E90 sedan is family ready!

Too bad she doesn't like the wagon. However, 328d is a good option.

I think 328d should be fine. I'd also consider an E70 diesel, I'm sure they can be had for a very good price now (assuming you want a lot of room haha)

Anybody have any pics of a sedan with a baby seat in the back or a stroller in the trunk? Trying to figure out how much space will be left with these two things in the car.

Tell me about it, i just saw a 330D M performance wagon @ a dealer in Berlin and fell in love. Ive tried a million times to explain to her that vehicles like the x5 and x3 unless they are used for towing they are pretty much useless since they dont offer more space than a 5 or 3 series wagon but they waste more gas and are not on par on speed or handling with a wagon. However i would not be mad seeing a F30 328D M sport sitting next to my E92 in the garage .

Pics i took of the beautiful 330d m performance wagon in Berlin:

Same scenario with my wife...she hates wagons and I love them. I switched over from a Mini Cooper to an e90 when I heard she was prego. It fit the bill well, and the f30 is even larger than an e90. You won't have any issues with even 2 kids. The biggest issue with 2 was that we love our large double wide jogger to push our kids around in, and we have to take it apart whether it goes in our late f30 or gran coupe.

When I first had a kid, I got bit by the American "larger is better" ideal and purchased a gwagen, x5 and a landcruiser. Big mistake. I can honestly make do in my Mini Cooper clubmanS with my 2 kids and wife. If we're traveling far and need to pack more, nothing a roof rack wouldn't fix

My wife and I just went through this exercise and ultimately ended up going with a 2-year old CPO Touareg TDI (picking it up Monday). We testdrove a lot of cars, and she ultimately made the pick. One advice that really helped us: borrow a child seat (infant style) and try it in the cars you're looking at. Once it's in, sit in the car alongside your wife, swap seats, etc. We ruled out several cars as a result, such as the Jetta Sportwagon diesel and the new 3-series wagon. Disclaimer: I am almost 6'5" and we have a decent sized dog, so many cars (and all sedans) were not an option for us but would make great family cars otherwise.

You should definitely have your wife see the wagon in person, we offer the wagons in our loaner fleet and have surprisingly been getting a lot of great feedback. It's definitely a lot more practical as far as future planning in terms of loading up strollers and grocery shopping. Plus wagons have literally no blind spots which is great for challenged drivers(women drivers ), also I think auto insurance is cheaper on wagons if I'm not mistaken.

She saw the one i posted earlier in Berlin and even with the M sport package she still thinks its ugly . There was a black 328xi wagon at out dealer and she disliked it as well. We just placed the order for an AW F30 328d M-sport with nav, sport paddles, lighting package, driver assistance plus, premium package with an eta of november cant wait.

Yessir, I'm a service advisor here @ McKenna but also a fellow M3 enthusiast, I also oversee all the "modded" cars that come thru the dealership.
