This is really impressive, I was watching this with my own two eyes. These guys are truly amazing drivers, a 9 hour red flag goes to prove how bad the weather was. This race usually doesn't stop for anything.

Well, for me the red flag came without a reason. Why? The conditions were MUCH worse when Maxime Martin went crazy. The fog went away and the break came. So for me that could've gone on. I was impressed of the small number of crashes in the rain and fog though.

Very impressive! I have a lot of respect for great rain drivers. I used to be confident and quick in the rain until I had a DE incident in the rain where I hydroplaned at about 120mph and ended up hitting a tire wall at about 80mph.

Suppose you believe me when I tell you at the Nürburgring, I know what comes around the next bend. I have several dozen laps of joyful driving experience there after 14 separate trips there since 1997. It is one of my driving related obsessions.

The infamous circuit is routinely a widow-maker in dry and sunny conditions.
In this configuration it is well over 13 miles long and rises and falls harder than any hilly Pennsylvania back road you have ever experienced at any speed. On this video lap, the average speed is nearly 100 mph. This is in the dark AND in the rain in a Porsche 911 racing car with more power than most of us can imagine on a dry road.

When wet, this historic (late 1920's) road course is notoriously slippery, with variable grip from asphalt of several different generations. Before this 24 Hour race each year, drunken Germans camp out and spray-paint a large part of the pavement with entertaining and incoherent graffiti. Rain soaked latex paint is slicker than wet pavement.

The old-school track is remarkably narrow, with virtually no run-off areas on either side of the pavement. If you DO get out there on the grass (wet or dry), you are going for a nasty ride and you are likely/guaranteed to crash - and not the "that'll buff right out" kind of crash.

Leh Keen is a young Professional American racing driver who did not have the 'Ring imprinted on his DNA like my German counterparts. Before viewing this, I was 99.9% sure he is the most talented driver I've ever been (casually) acquainted with, but this video just blew my mind. He takes time out of his pro-racing schedule each year to drive in the sportsman based Tire Rack One Lap of America. In early May, he and teammate car builder Douglas Wilks locked up their 4th consecutive overall victory

So, when you wind-up at a casual dinner table with him and some other One Lap scoundrels, he is as unassuming as an insurance salesman. If you didn't overhear others discussing it, you'd never suspect he's got those Superman tights under there.

I saw this on YouTube/Drive yesterday. Incredible. Amazingly quick hands. I can't imagine the amount of concentration this requires, not to mention the innate skill/ability. It's like the automobile equivalent of Deadliest Catch.

Leh Keen used to post on here with some regularity a couple of years ago under the username KingLeh. He had an amazing E92 M3 that he had customized perfectly. He's since moved on to bigger and better things. It's been fun watching him and co-driver Andrew Davis in the #59 Brumos Porsche 911 in the Rolex series. Based on his activity here and his on-air interviews, he seems like a very down-to-earth, good guy. Who happens to be amazingly talented.

I drove the ring in the wet...it is super slick! The worst part is when it starts drying out. Anything under shade (there's a lot of shade on the track) will be wet, the rest will be dry. Talk about tricky!
