Extended Warranty plans for M cars?
A friend of mine is about to purchase an used 2010 M3 that's only got a few months of warranty left.
After searching around online he learned that the BMW extended warranty is not cheap, only covers TWO years after the original warranty expires, and heard that there are many excluded items. Also some popular warranty options, such as Ford ESP, does not cover any M vehicles... For all you guys with M cars that's no longer covered by the BMW manufacture warranty, which after market warranty/service contract do you use? Are there any good exclusionary warranty/service contracts that you know of? |

Dealer will negotiate on Warranty (and you don't have to buy the warranty at local dealer to get it).
I hear good things about Auto Pom: Lisa Deneault ldeneault@auto-pom.com autoPOM! Office: 800 724-8141 Ext. '3' Direct: 949-246-9796

If your buddy has USAA by any chance tell him to check out extended warranties through them. I have never used USAA for warranties but I have a couple of family members who have had them and love them. Also, just looked up an M3 quote on their website and it looks like for around $3300, you can get a comprehensive warranty for 3yrs/36k miles.

I never purchased extended warranty. The car saw only regular maintenance, a brake job, a set of new tires and 2 rear spring replacements (one at the time of sale and one by the new owner). I sold the car at approx. 60K KM the new owner now has over 100K KM. My recommendation would be ... make sure the car is BMW inspected or certified, check past maintenance history (previous owners and BMW reports). This should help you in making your own decision ... one only you can make based on hard facts. Good Luck

Crazy! Did not know USAA provided this. Probably a dumb question, but could this apply to a used BMW purchased from a non-bmw dealer? |

I have a platinum warranty, 3/36K through Fidelity that cost around $3700. The dealership, that I bring my car to, says that they are very reputable and they rarely have any problems getting paid on a claim. I just had over $3000 worth of work done and they didn't blink an eye.
