Talking New M3 owner here:)

Finally bought a new to me 2008 E90 M3 and wanted to introduce myself and the cars I have had before this

This isn't my first BMW, but it is my first M

Modifications involve things that will prepare it for weekend play at the track as well as directed towards making it a nice commuter.

This track season I will probably just prep the car and keep it all close to factory to get used to the car.

On the agenda includes AFE or Macht Schnell stage 2 kit and the OEM exhaust mod... For the track this car has more than enough power, but I'd definitely want to turn up the exhaust volume so I can hear it through my helmet to time my shifting. At the same time I want to keep things civilized as far as volume goes for commuting.

I am still debating as to wether I will keep the suspension stock for now or add Springs that work well with the EDC. I'm just worried that the EDC shocks may be underdamped for stiffer rate springs such as the H&R or Swift. I think I read somewhere that if I do springs I should get E36 bump stops and remove the rear spring pads and just wrap the coils.

Or I would keep the suspension stock and just add stiffer bushings all around for now and later upgrade to a full on coilover setup from AST or JRZ or something. My last DD/ track car had corner balanced AST coilovers + and all around white line bushings and chassis braces which makes the car realy stable and predictable at the track with lots of grip so I'm kinda spoiled when it comes to suspension.

Anyhow here are pictures of my previous/ current rides and my M3

My first BMW (sold)

My old MTB bike

My PandaFJ

My PandaGTI (getting all its parts that make it a 350hp wrong wheel drive track monster dismantled so that it can be sold off )

As you can see... I'm not new to the world of modding and tuning however coming back to BMW I am new to the M3.

And now my PandaM3

Congrats and welcome! Nice cars. Was it that M3 passing you on the track that sealed the deal on turning in the GTI for something righteously "right-wheel" drive?

Actually it was the fact that the GTI kept overheating at the track... Rebuilt the engine last year after an overheat with JE Pistons, forged rods, ARP head bolts and external oil cooler and it would still run hot.

Was all ready for the 2013 track season with brand new NT01's, cases of Motul, and water meth... So took it to my mechanic to check car over and look at some oil seepage I've noticed and turns out the head gasket is slightly blown again. Not enough to loos power or cause driveability issues, but enough that it wouldnt be a good idea to track it.

So I looked at other cars including the new 2013 B8.5 S4. However in the end when I would get out of the S4 I would start listing off things in my head I would need to mod or change. However after driving the M3 I did not get a list in my head going as far as things I need to change on it.

The only thing I'm spoiled on is coming from my GTI's well sorted suspension to the M3... But I'm comparing a car with cornerbalanced AST coilvoers, bushings, and chassis braces to the stock M3... Maybe a set of bushings will help.

Happy for you and the acquisition of the new ride. Should be loads of fun and after dialing it in you'll forget all about the GTI.

I have the KW Adjustables that work with EDC and love it. One of my fav mods.
