K&N filter. Feedback? Anyone have it?
I like K&N filters. They are a great company with great products and results. I have used them on all my cars, from My STi to my Supra and my Lexus. They always are a good choice when choosing to upgrade or replace. My question, Does anyone use a K&N on their M's? Or is a Macht Schnell filter basically the same for a cheaper price. The K&N is about $90 which is typically what they cost. From what I see, the MS is what everyone uses, but I wouldn't mind spending the extra to get a K&N knowing it is a great product and I'm sure I will be happy with. Some feedback would be great. Thanks!

I would stick with the BMC drop-in. A very proven filter on these cars.

I've used K&N filters since i rode motorcycles as a kid. Malcolm Smith who started K&N lived by us. He had one on his lawnmower.
I'm hesitating to buy one for my M3 because it looks like other companies have put more time into developing a specific filter. Is K&N just making the same old filter for everything is the question. |

Not that it's an issue on these cars but K&N doesn't seem to do much research on the individual cars they make these for. Their filters can often clog MAF sensors due to too much oil on them.

K&n is awesome. I dunno what Tech is smoking today but there is no Maf sensor on a s65 motor. The issue purple have is over oiling the filter which fouls the Maf. I have never ever had any issues on my cars with k&n filters. Also the only company who will warranty their brand if anything should happen.
And FYI amazon has the k$n for like $45 |

I have been running a K&N for a year. No issues. Can't tell you whether it adds power, but it probably does in my case since I have a 2008 and the original filter had the extra charcoal liner. It did change the sound a little and I like the slightly louder induction.

OP: FYI an air filter is not gonna make any significant power gains. AA's green filter is well built and that's what I'm using right now. Intake sound/noise may change but that's it. I believe AA's is better built than K&N, but that's just my appreciation. Want bigger gains? Go HFC/catless or better yet: S/C.
