Shipping a car from Victoria/Vancouver to Toronto
Found a company, www.fasttracks.net which quoted me $870 + HST + Fuel Surcharge to ship from Vancouver to Toronto. Now, unless the Fuel Surcharge is like $600 this price seems extremely low....as in I won't see my car again low.
Anyone ever used Fasttracks.net (J Simons)? Can anyone recommend a solid shipping company, preferably to ship from Victoria to Toronto, that is also not an arm and a leg to ship? |

Have you called TFX International? http://www.tfxinternational.com. I've used them before and was happy with their service. This was to move a car from Florida to Toronto (but they do Canada wide as well).

we just used: www.uship.com to ship an S6 from Toronto to Calgary and a Denali HD back from Calgary to Toronto and it was $1,500 - $1,700 each so your quote sounds very low.
we had no issues with the provider we used. i don't know the specifics but they delivered on time as stated this past week.

I know a few people that have also used TFX to ship cars up from the US to Canada. Sounds like a solid/trustworthy company. I also see them at least 2 to 3 times each summer unloading a lambo or ferrari outside of my office in Yorkville, they are a pretty popular option.
On a side note, I am part of an exotic car club, I will post up and ask the people there if they know anything about fasttracks or alternative options, and if the price sounds right. |

That quote is for rail transport which is not an ideal way to ship a vehicle that you care about and is much cheaper than shipping in an inclosed truck. |

So fasttracks got back to me. Their $870 with tax and fuel comes to around $1200 from Vancouver and $1500 from Victoria.
First bid on uship it was $1900 uncovered and $2700 covered :S |

It's over 4000 km. I drove here from Toronto and not up for it again. Plus I don't really trust driving an out of warranty car for over 4K km straight.

Have you tried Reliable Carriers? They do the Mecum and Barrett Jackson cars.

Interesting discussion here. FYI, TFX is the only carrier that allows you to load up to 200 lbs of personal stuff in the car. That might help a bit for shipping stuff over the country.

I ended up getting a good one way air fare to drive my second car from WestJet and drove both cars myself. Great fun it was and I knew at all times my cars were safe and in good hands Now I understand not all of us have the time to do this ... Still what a wonderful road trip. Good luck in finding the right shipper!

+1 for TFX. They are a top notch operation!!! They shipped my 1994 Euro M3 from Toronto to Edmonton for $2095 Fully insured, and the car arrived in perfect condition. The driver of the Truck even called me personally to tell me he would be delayed due to a snow storm on the prairies. He then updated me of a new ETA as soon as he was able to get under way!
Member TTBear had his Gallardo shipped with them as well and was very happy with the service. Thanks for the recommendation Duncan! |
