Calgary: Detailing workshop April 29 - Now over!
The course that we have previously discussed in this thread is a GO.
Jed Bouscal, the owner of Mobile Reflections, a highly regarded detailing shop, will be the instructor for this three hour crash course on detailing using orbital polishers. I have no affiliation with this shop--Jed was the most interested party when I mass sent emails out to the shops in Calgary. Here are the details: When: Sunday, April 29, 2012 @ 1:00pm Where: Kulu Motorcar, 5504 1A St SW, Calgary, AB Cost: $100 per person Duration: 3 hours Capacity: Six students maximum, two demo vehicles Bring: Buffer/pads if you have them, and your car Parking and entrance will be in the rear. Attendees will have the opportunity to work on their own cars for a maximum of two simultaneously. Concepts include theory and application of orbital polishing. Proper application will be discussed, as well as how to avoid common pitfalls. Jed has personally guaranteed student satisfaction, else he will waive payment. He encourages students to pose questions/situations here ahead of time so that we may cover them during the course. This is the first time Jed has run such a workshop, so we will be the "pilot" class so to speak. Course is now over! We learned a great deal, through highly technical demonstration and troubleshooting. Jed's process was very enlightening and taught us the most appropriate ways to deal with various paint-related issues. In the end, we were left with a strong sense of confidence in correcting minor defects and self-learning the best ways to achieve a specific final look. I can recommend the course without hesitation. I think even the experienced home detailer will benefit greatly from Jed's broad experience. Misconceptions, myths, and typical bad habits were also addressed. We covered a variety of concepts including compounds, pads, and how they relate to each other and how they can be used with varying speeds and pressures to achieve certain looks. We learned how to correct imperfections including swirls and minor scratches, and identify marring and holograms. The final products looked incredible and were achieved with a high level of confidence. For those who ditched a few minutes before the course, I'm pretty disappointed and it reminds me to institute a deposit next time to keep you... motivated to follow through Check out some photos here: http://flic.kr/s/aHsjzEz6V8

The two demo vehicles will be volunteered. Jed has ensured us that no vehicles will be harmed in the process of making this workshop.

Have fun guys, I can't make it. For people who can't go to this class, I found this very useful:

If you're still interested, I'll PM you after. I think if this goes well Jed might run it again. Right now it's just M3 guys but I'm sure it can expand.

My car is in the shop also because the body shop blew the amp in it. Awesome. They SAY they should be able to get it done tomorrow but we'll see. Otherwise I'm going to show up in my winter beater LOL.

Seriously? That is messed up! What are the chances? I think the shop probably hooked up the amp while the battery was connected.. guessing that's what happened. Crazy it happened to you, too!

SiRR; Sorry didn't mean to have your name there, made a mistake on the username.. copy and pasted the list too many times. For the record I have no issues with cancellations a day or two in advance. I think that's fair to say for most of these types of events.
These cancellations happened in the last hours sorta thing when I was already at the shop. Just kind of puts us all in an awkward situation.
