Damaged GTS3 bumper - need advice
Hi all,
I've had a couple rough run-ins with some tough driveways this week and have done some damage to the lip portion of my gts3 bumper. The front of the lip has taken a bit of a beating and the carbon fiber is starting to fray with the plastic coating peeling off. Two questions: 1. Any suggestions on how to stop the fraying that has started and "re-seal" the carbon fiber? Has anyone done anything to repair this on a carbon fiber lip? 2. Is the lip replaceable on the gts3 bumper? Thanks! |

I had the gts3 and yes the lip is replaceable, however I suggest getting rid of the bumper altogether. Had it, looks great, can't live with it.

I'm on my second front lip on my GTS3 bumper.... Shit laying in the middle of the freeway is a bitch.
The lip is easily replaceable, they retail for about $650-$700. Repair is not so easy; the carbon fiber is thin and there is barely anything there to work with. |

Thanks for the response.

A body shop might be able to repair that if they are experienced with carbon fiber. The repair costs might be as much as the replacement lip though.

Rapture is right on both fronts here. You could try a body shop but for what they're gonna charge you I'd just get a new lip. Repair could end up being like putting a band aid on cancer.

That's repairable. If it didnt mess the cf underneath, wet sand it all off and respray clear, then wetsand, then buff and polish. I did a diy front lip repair thread and it turned out great!

You can repair it and paint it black, however, it will be marginally cheaper than a replacement. Our shop would personally charge no more than $450 for the repair and paint. If you do need a replacement let me know and we'll see what we can do.
