It depends what you mean by a "wax". Most over the counter waxes have a cleaning/polishing agent and a protective agent in one. Higher end products have them separated. The cleaning/polishing is not the same as the protective layer you apply.
If you are looking for an all-in-one product that is easy to use, I'd recommend the Werkstat Prime products. Engineered in Germany with acrylic polymers, they work good as a one-step product. http://www.werkstat.com |

You are about to get a million opinions - and many of them will be great products. I like Meguiar's #21 because it is super easy to apply/remove and lasts incredibly long. Technically it is a polymer based and not a true "wax".
People may have different recommendations based on the color of the car also - so you may want to specify that.

Personally I'd got with a layer of sealant for durability. Menzerna.

Ask any good detailer, they SHOULD tell you good prep is more important than a good wax. That being said my favorite wax that I have is Swissvax Concorso, Dodo Juice Rainforest Rub comes in a close second (havent used my Supernatural Hybrid yet) and Autoglym HD is also good. Hint on the AG HD check you local Wal Marts this stuff was on clearance for $10 reg price is $50. I grabbed 3

Old school wax: Collinite 845 if durability and protection is important AND you want to go old school style. Best there is for durability IMO.
New technology sealant: CQuartz or AQuartz if you want to go with a VERY durable nano sealant that will last up to two years with great protection.

http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/foru...ad.php?t=79801 Keep in mind this is the result from one type of paint system, in one color, in one type of environment, and only half a dozen products were used. The number one thing I think should be taken away is that it's all about the prep, and I'm sure the majority of fellow pros and hard core enthusiasts will agree. |

^1 completely agree with above two statements all in the prep. Most high end waxes are chosen for reputation IMO.
Heck I took my freshly detailed 335 to the Irvine Cars & Coffee meet 3 weeks ago to meet a friend who is in a Viper club. Mind you its BFWD with Collonite 845 over top 1 week old application fresh wash and QD the morning of. One of his buddies asked me what was on the paint and if it was Fuzion a boutique wax costing @175 a pot. When I told him a $30 bottle of sealant with a $15 bottle of wax he crapped himself he was not happy with the cost of his stuff. |

As already stated its all in the prep before hand.
I've tried almost everything from cheap $20 up to $400. I just had my car detailed and used 3D Nitro Seal on it and I'll proly never use anything else, its the wettest look I've ever seen ![]()
