BMW Apps, worth the money?
About to place an order for a M3 and was wondering about this option... the only thing that sounds worthwhile (for me) is the streaming radio and video playback options. Do these two features work well? Anyone regret tacking it on as an option they never use?

The two items you mention work great but the real reason I got it was that hopefully there would be MORE apps coming in the future. Would hate to have an app made for this car that I really want but can't because I didn't purchase this option.

The internet radio is awesome! I never listen to regular stations anymore, plus everything works when your not in the car also. Facebook/Twitter are just cool to show people. Ability to stream video from your phone is priceless!!!!!!! who the hell carries DVD's around????
You will not be upset with this option |

What's $250 extra on a $70k car?
Really though, as already mentioned what if they release some really useful apps. I could see something like integration with the TrackCam app or Fuel Economy etc. |

If you have an iPhone, it seems like a pretty much no-brainer option.
Pandora rules. Actually, it's ruling a bit less lately.. I hate the commercials! |

Thanks for the feedback everyone, I'm assuming there's a bunch of streaming stations you can pick from eh? Also is this something that needs to be installed from the factory or can it be added after the fact?

My car is on order and I like tech but I skipped the app option. I loaded the car down with so much and I like satellite radio that I didn't see a benefit from it.

I have a 2011 M3 with BMW Apps and I bought the compatible cradle from my dealer and it doesn't work. The apps doesn't work. The Plug In for the iPod UI doesn't work. I took the cradle and put it in my dad's 2012 750i and it worked. Has anyone else had this issue with their M3 and knows that the problem is?

Yes. It has BMW Apps and Smartphone Integration on the window sticker and I can get to the BMW apps section in connected drive. When I snap in the cradle and the phone (with the BMW iPhone app on) it doesn't populate the apps, it keeps telling me something about needing a USB connection.

even so, a simple jailbreak and getting the Pandora One, could still do the trick for free....not that I condone such things ![]()

All of the reasons mentioned and the fact that more integrated apps are possible and may be coming helps justify the decision. 6NR is also what separates the model as a 2011.75+.

yes. I was told my car would have it, but the stealership lied and I'm pissed every single day because of it.

As long as you have the combox there will be a dealer retrofit path for you coming down the pike.
