Seat bottom has no middle stripe?
I've noticed on other E92 M3 has the stripe on the seat back and extending bottom part. Mine just has the plain (no stripe) at the later. I'm referring to the part of the seat that extends forward.
What's the difference? Does the stripe signify extended leather? I've also noticed that my seat bottom has those 2 pimples. Complained about it and dealer will only replace the seat cover/leather. Not the whole seat. Should I let them do it? I'm not sure if those guys can replace just the cover and do a good job installing it. BTW M3 still has less than 1k miles on it. Thanks guys.

The stripe is only on European models that actuall have a different seat bottom with higher bolsters. Somehow, the E93s have the stripe, but have the NA spec lower bolsters.
Not sure about the pimples. I'd have the dealer replace the cover if they're offering to do that. If it comes out crappy afterwards, you can ask them to redo it or replace it again, but they should be able to replace it. An upholsterer should have no trouble replacing the cover. |

Does your car have heated seats? And if so, have you used them? I ask because I was told the pimples are from the heated seats. I had the dealer replace the seat covers...

Stuff like the pimples are the result of natural defects in the leather that heat (often) cause to become visible.

I could easily be remembering wrong though. OP - here's a ton of past discussion on the seat bottom topic, for your perusal: http://www.google.com/search?q=Europ...www.m3post.com |

Just looked at a brochure for m/y 2009. The strip on the thigh bolster appears on the E90, 92 and 93.
As an aside, my 2011 E92 with cloth/leather upholstery has dual embroidered strips running from the top leather portion (with strip) through the thigh bolster. |

Thanks everyone for your inputs.
I guess the stripe is not for USM E92s. As for the pimple on the leather, It's possible due to the heating elements of the seat or my ass is too hot :-) I'm just worried that a regular mechanic at the dealership doing oil changes gets this incident of replacing the leather surface. Reupholstering is no easy task. It must be taut and involves securing it properly otherwise we'll have wrinkles. Thanks again.

The whole USA E92 and E90 M3 bottom seat cover and foam support -not only the thigh support cover leather fold that you are asking about in this thread- seems to be a cost cutting decision by BMWNA so as to save money in side impact certification costs here in the USA. Thus the whole seat bottom is shared by the US 3-Series Coupe and Sedan. The complete M3 front seat bottom outside North America is different.
This European thigh support covers can be retrofitted, though: Quote:

Anyone know the part numbers required for Black Novillo?
Also can it even be ordered in the US?
