aFe E9X M3 Stage 2 Intake
BMW has blessed the E9X M3 with an amazing high revving V8 engine but for such a high strung NA (naturally aspirated) motor, it needs to breathe.
Drop in replacement filters are a nice option but it does not do anything to help the bottlenecking on the intake track. The intake box itself is a great unit. It is sealed, the plastic disperses the heat quickly so it does not become heatsoaked and it takes in air from multiple sources. The ideal set up would incorporate the stock airbox but create a new intake track. This is what aFe set out to do and they have accomplished this with startling results. The new aFe stage 2 cold air intake system produces up to 18 max horsepower with 15 ft lbs of torque. It out-flowed the restrictive stock intake by 41%. That’s impressive considering all that was done was opening up the intake track and adding a high flow filter. This is an integral part of any mod list in order to free up horsepower on the s65. $416 Order here: http://www.hpashop.com/product.sc?pr...categoryId=210 Last edited by HP Autosport; 02-17-2016 at 11:58 AM.. |

What is the difference between this and the full kit that is around $900? I read on this forum that the way the filter clamps is different but I don't known if that is also the case with what you are selling in this thread. Please also pm me price shipped to 95834. Thanks!

Was kind of a PITA to install.
I ended up having to remove the plastic shroud that routes air into the factory air box from the front of the car and install the filter last. When you're installing the plastic section with the rubber coupler, slide it on from the bottom up onto the plenum. Post Installation Review: She pulls harder and the induction sound is a bit more noticeable. |

7-8 WHP Improvement over my AA Green Filter and that's when my car is pulling timing due to it being so god damn hot.
In a much more reasonable temperature, I think a 10-12whp delta should be expected. The lower run was done on 8/28/2014, the higher numbers were achieved on 9/13/2014. You can see the sizable temperature differences. It was so hot that my car wasn't even able to hit its' timing targets on todays runs. I had it sitting in the shade, hood open and a fan on it for a bit and was able to squeeze out these runs before heat soak kicked in even more. STD Correction SAE Correction |
