I tried to order

MY M3 yesterday and again today. I was told buy the dealer he can't price it cause there are changes being made . I guess its going to be a long time before I see a M3. I was sure hoping by the end of Aug .He told me something about he called the port. What does the port have to do with pricing he said they will let him know about the changes.

I'm sure you can order anything you want, providing what you order are already common options and you are willing to accept small price fluctuations.

I was told he can't build it or price. He gave me his word to show and sell at invoice. I would need to know price cause I am at my limit. From a stock very to one with 9 k in option, numbers is important. :-)

Look for the thread on September changes. They are introducing some changes to iDrive and shifting some options, beginning with September production. With the factory closed in August your order will be a September build. My dealer said the same thing, they have no prices yet for the September build cars but should have them in the next couple of weeks.

He is right that he cannot give you the numbers as they aren't available. While he can't price it, he should be able to order it for you. You can then wait until the price comes out to see how you want to adjust the packages or cancel the order altogether.

It's that time of year. They know the price is changing but don't yet know what it is. Good luck.

Cheers.

I suppose there is always the possibility that a dealer has an unsold car set up to your specs but likely you will have to compromise if you want something ASAP. For my 2008 550 my dealer was able to find one inbound on a ship with the options I wanted though it also had heated front seats. Not much use here in New Orleans but for the extra $500 I got the instant gratification of getting a car in two weeks rather than waiting eight weeks. Can't imagine there are a lot of M3's simply ordered for dealer inventory...

So thats the way i need to do it see whats on the ship as non sold orders. Is that how it works. Can the car just be inbound to another dealer but not marked as sold. Does the shipment come in every week or 2 or once a month.

Your dealer is full of it.

I ordered a Sept build M3, and the base MSRP is already available (actually unchanged). What's not yet available are the new option prices. I can't imagine the prices being wildly different.

So you agree on an invoice + $x pricing and order it.

If you are that tight on pricing, you can just order the base (for which MSRP is available), and add options when the prices become available.

I am only tight cause I was going with base M3 with DCT ,that now has pre pkg, tech pkg, 19s,almost 9 k in options. If I get my order in tommrow do you think there is a chance car makes ship before shut down. So If I have dealer place order can I still put the ond options pkg on the car the way I had it.

Yes, if another dealer had ordered a car for inventory (not ordered by a customer) then your dealer can usually swap a car or production slot and get you that car. Just depends on what's available. As for timing, not sure how often ships sail to the US, others will have to chime in on that...

I ordered my M3 sedan on July 6 and all I see is that the car is on order, not in production. I ordered the car with the old options and it went through. The dealer insists the car will be built before the August shutdown.

enigma01 is right. I dealt with the same issue when I ordered mine. We ordered the car and waited for pricing. Dealer agreed to X amount off of MSRP.

Why are you trying to order a pre-Sept build?

I think people's fear on increased pricing is misplaced. Specifically, for the vert, it just became CHEAPER. The M-Drive option now comes for free with the same MSRP. The manual seats are for the e90/e92 only, and the power seats are still standard on the e93.

If you price it out with the old pkging vs. new, I would be shocked if the final price isn't within $500 of each other.

The only package difference is ZCV/ZTP, and it's comprised of:

ZCV = ZTP + (Alarm + PDC + iPod Adaptor) - (EDC + M-Drive); /* M-Drive is now standard */

Price of the PCV should be very close to that of the ZTP.

Unless you can't wait for the Sept build, I would recommend that:

1. Order your base car (same MSRP).
2. When pricing becomes available (*and* before it goes into production), add back all the options you wanted.

OK dealer left message we should be able to order this in the am and get production number. enigma01a few questios for you or anyone that knows. Nav is that just for directions which i dont need at all which comes in thech pkg, EDC is also a stand alone option to adjust the ride. What is the M button they refer to as on the steering wheel, That power button that adjusts the power band on the console is that standard. Is everyone that gets nav in the tech getting it for a reason other then direction and for them to tell you where diner is. Please help me understand the pre pkg, tech pkg, M button, and EDCstand alone or EDC that come with teck pkg. The sound system is it well worth it, I would have to leave a 2 k option out if I went with it. Thanks guys time to order soon and want to make right choice. This will be the most I spent or leased a car almost $80 k car wow. I sure want to make it right.

Some feedback based on my '08 purchase.
1) Nav includes iDrive which gives you easier control over a host of vehicle functions and settings. Unless you really want to keep costs down, or hate the 2nd hump, I would suggest getting it. Will also make resale easier to most buyers. When bundled in the Tech package you also get EDC (I recommend), Comfort Access (didn't think I cared about this but LOVE it now) and M Drive, which lets you preprogram favorite settings to access at the touch of a button. Overall, I think the Tech package is a good value.
2)The Power button doesn't reall affect power but makes the throttle response faster. I drive in Sport all the time.
3) I would probably skip the Enhanced Premium Sound if you want to hold the cost down. It's not bad, but not really worth the price, IMO. Be sure to get the iPod/USB option, though.
4) I would also suggest the stand-alone heated front seat option, in lieu of the CWP.
5) If you want leather, I would go for the whole Premium Package for $900 more. UGDO is almost worth that alone. If you don't care, there are many who like the cloth seats and you can do without power folding mirrors, etc.

- Nav is for directions *and* iDrive, which allows easy settings on the car. Some people don't like the "double hump" look while others like the high-resolution screen.

- ZPP (Premium Pkg) contains:
* Power folding mirrors - I couldn't careless for this feature unless your parking spot is very tight.
* Universal garage door opener
* Aluminum, Carbon Leather or Wood trim
* Digital compass mirror - if you have the nav, this probably isn't very useful
* BMW Assist with BT - I never use BMW Assist, but BT is handy. I like my BT headset much better though.

- EDC controls damper settings (Sport, Normal and Comfort); in simplistic terms, it controls firmness of the ride. I am not sure what the default setting is if you don't get it (probably Normal?).

- M-Drive controls the throttle response (i.e. relationship between your accelerator pedal travel and how much power is delivered in response).

If I were to give up one of the options above, I would probably skip the ZPP (Prem Pkg). Most items aren't very useful and certainly do not add to the driving experience (which is probably the main reason people are getting the M3 in the first place).

In case you didn't catch it, the OP is looking at the vert (e93). So this doesn't apply since the leather seat is already standard. How is UGDO is worth $900? I can always go to Home Depot and pick one up for $20 (granted it doesn't look as good by clipping on the visor).
