Dinan midpipe question

For those that have bought Dinan's Midpipe exhaust - Are the cats completely removed? Does Dinan remove both the primary and secondary cats? I've read conflicting things...Dinan website says it's a "race only" midpipe (not legal on streets)...their site says it also doesn't qualify for their normal 50,000 mile warranty like most of their parts do because it is a "racing part".

Midpipe removes ALL cats. Also They sell this as "racing" use so they dont warranty the part as opposed to their street products. What is the conflicting info?

All cats are removed. There are two sets of resonators though. See DINAN vs. Stock pic below.

Steve Dinan's writeup of his rear exhaust for the M3 mentions that he was going to release a midpipe section that retains the primary cats (near the headers)...but will remove the secondaries and therefore pass most emission tests. I guess he just hasn't gotten around to releasing that product that yet...

here's a cut and paste from his paper:

Dinan will be making a middle racing exhaust system for the M3 similar to the one we manufacture for the
M5 and M6. This racing exhaust will remove the second stage or rear catalyst. Removing the rear catalysts
with a high performance middle exhaust section while still illegal is a lot more practical. First off the middle
exhaust system cost about ½ to 1/3 the cost of a header. The labor is also much less to install the middle
exhaust section. The car will still pass a smog test at the tailpipe and there are no faults set or readiness
issues to deal with when you get a smog test either. This is an Ideal system for a showroom stock race car
T-1 T-2 where the car must pass a smog test at the end of a race and cannot have a check engine light on.
The gain about half of the front cat or 10 hp but there is no hassle and it is a lot less money. On Dinan’s
middle exhaust system we also include 3 different noise level resonators so you can get the sound you are
looking for from your car.

They take out primary and secondary cats and put 4 4inch resonators in it. You get a one or two year warranty with racing products but it isn't like the normal 50,000 mile 4 year

I'm interested in doing the dinan mid pipe, pulley, intake, and dinan software.
The problem is that I already have a Meisterschaft GT2 with SR pipes.
I love the sound of the GT2 and for me it is not to loud as the car is not my DD. The question that I have is, do you guys think that the dinan mid pipe with the 4 resonators will make the car a lot more louder than the stock mid pipe with the GT2?

In that statement, he says they only remove the secondary cats, but obviously, they're all gone.

I have heard that the Meisterchaft GT2 is louder than the DINAN. However, that is just what I have heard from some others.

I obviously have the full DINAN exhaust and it is loud, but not from the cabin. I don't think it is overly loud from the outside, but just enough to sound like you are driving something with some power. It does have a deeper tone at lower rpm than stock and I love that!

Exactly my point...I guess they never released an xpipe w/the primary OEM cats. Maybe this will be their next product launch for the M3???

i have it and LOVE it!!!! best thing i did to the car. the power is awesome the sound is awesome and there is no drone ever. it is only loud when you want it to be. at cruising it is no louder then just the reg rear muffler. it is my daily and i couldn't have any drone so this was my only option as i have yet to hear any other systems with no drone at all

Bumping up an old thread.

Did you end up installing the Dinan midpipe with the Meisterschaft GT2 muffler? Curious to know how this set up came out... I have a Dinan midpipe and AA Muffler and thinking about swapping to a GT2 muffler.
