Solid state hard disk drives compared to the M3
I am researching solid state drives to replace the hd in my laptop. On newegg's site for the OCZ vertex 120gb there are several good comments. This one is hilarious and I just had to share:

P.S. when you say "my baby" are you talking about a computer? Or your M3? I ask this because '08 M3s don't have a hard drive but '09s do. And I haven't heard of a computer (not since the early 80's anyway) without a hard drive.

P.S. Of course I was referring to the M3! Had it since November 2007! Quote:
People who aren't into cars think "It's just another BMW" which suits me just fine. Those who DO know are very appreciative. Just last night I gave a bunch of guys a real thrill (I think they were thrilled, they were cheering!) by taking off pretty quick from where they were standing! Pics... |

SSD's are in their infancy but they're already improving rapidly. I just bought an Intel X25-M as my boot/applications drive; I'm really excited to see how it performs.

Wow, I haven't heard of any 1TB SSDs available yet. I'll have to do some more research.

Read this article on SSD, extremely informative. The net is that the only drives worth buying right now are from intel.

And the Intel ones are still not a surefire bet. They degrade over time and you need to "reboot" the SSD so to speak.
