RPM Wire for S65

Hello Folks,

I am getting a shift light to add to the build for my track car and need to identify where the RPM wire is for the S65. I did search and google'd it but not 100% confident I have found it.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

The KOMBI receives this information via K_CAN. There is no "RPM wire" on this platform.

Thank you for the info. If there is no RPM signal then is there a way to add a shift light? Very newbie question but I am not a wiring/ecu expert.

I think some sort of OBD shift light would be much easier...

Have to say great customer service from the vendor. Here is what he told me to do for the shift light:

Hi Rubin,

Absolutely. Used many times on M3 and a massive range of BMWs.
Use an ignition output signal, that goes to a coil. It is much faster and more accurate.

Another easy access source - - 'Tapping' JBE CAN Hi & Lo wires also provides RPM among several other sensor signals...used by many AM gauge/displays.

Just need a module that knows the specific signals to look at. I believe this is similar to what the steeringwheel race display does.
I think this would be the best option for OP.

Thank you for the reco! Unfortunately/fortunately all wiring is pretty easy in the engine bay currently as there is no engine, lol! Hopefully that changes next week.
